I enjoy collecting Disney platinum edition dvds, and I enjoy visiting this forum, I dont talk much. Im 34 yrs old and I have most of the Disney platinum edition dvds except Bambi. I plan on getting the Little Mermaid Dvd gift set next year as this is my favorite Disney animated film period. I have no children, and I enjoy watching it by myself. Is there something wrong with me for collecting these films, do I have to be a child to collect should I ignore my best friend who laughs at me and says Im too old to enjoy them?

There's nothing wrong with you. I'm 22 and I still collect all of the movies I loved as a child. I go so far as to want to get the TV shows I watched as a kid (He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is a must-have for me). If you like it, then you collect it, that's what I say.

Majority here is 21+ I'm 34 and collect all the disney DVD's.. Nothing wrong with something you enjoy.

I'm a 37 year old man with no children in the future and there is absolutley nothing wrong with owning or watching ANYTHING that makes you happy.


What? You turn 30 and suddenly the only thing you can watch are 4 disc PBS specials? No way!

Don't get me wrong - I like some PBS specials, but I think the great thing about being TRULY grown-up is being able to enjoy all age ranges of entertainment, from Radio Disney to NPR, from The Daily Show to Fantasia.

And don't forget - Wendy was grown up, but still believed in Peter Pan!

I am a 30 year old man, and have no children. I have collected a great many Disney DVD's (I even have a few of the free items with purchase, such as the Thumper Plush, and Genie Plush), and I display them proudly in my home.

My family, friends, and co-workers know that I LOVE Disney animated films, and I have even made a few friends who also have a love of Disney, and they range from all ages, and backgrounds.

Nothing wrong with enjoying Disney. So, ENJOY! I know I do!

Hopefully, I'll be watching Disney movies until I'm dead. Things that I loved as a child hold a special place in my heart that I will never outgrow.

I think the whole point to this entire website and message board, other than to support and celebrate Disney, is to send everyone who visits the message that Disney appeals to a timeless nature in everyone. That you can enjoy Disney entertainment and never feel ashamed. That you don't have to be a certain age to appreciate everything great about Disney.

So, are you wrong? Not in the least.

If you're at an old age and you still love Disney movies, there's absolutely nothing wrong with you. Just because you reach a certain age doesn't mean you can't like something anymore. I'm only 15, but I'm positive that I will love films like Aladdin, Treasure Planet, etc, no matter what age I reach.

Oh, and you don't have to worry about being the oldest person here who likes Disney. We have some OLD people here. I mean some REALLY, REALLY, REALLY OL- *shot*

Who told you that it was WRONG ( for a grown up with out kids) to collect Disney movies. They are the people that have a problem!!!!

I m 23 and i collect and watch disney dvds heck most of my dvd collection is animated its not just disney i have the care bear movies, jem and the holograms heathcliff and even the rainbow brite movie if you like and are going to watch it then why not i mean hey its okay

My best friend and I just returned from a vacation that included a day at Disneyland with no kids. She's 23, and I'm 29. She's not the crazy, obsessed animation freak that I am, but she enjoys a lot of cartoons, especially Disney ones, and we totally had a blast.

I hate that old stigmata that cartoons are just for kids. That simply isn't true.

One of my friends said that when she was a kid she was actually concerned about not being allowed to like cartoons when she grew up. One day she asked her dad about all those words in credits and what they were for. He explained that they were the names of the people that drew the cartoons. When she found out that adults actually made those cartoons, she knew everything was going to be okay. (I thought that was a really cute story.)

I think I always knew that I'd never fall out of love with cartoons, even when I was very small. There's just something about them that I absoultely adore. Or maybe it's just a sign that a part of me never wants to grow up, but that's something I'm totally cool with.

I'm 26 and I have a LOT of disney movie dvds, even a few I didn't see in the theatre. Bambi was a must have for me since I hadn't seen it in like 15-20 years. And Aladdin was only purchased because it was on sale on those after thanksgiving goodie sales ($11.99).

I also have a niece who LOVES Disney Princesses and she loves watching my dvds. I try to ask her which dvd she wants me to bring over to watch. We've watched Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Cinderella II DTV sequel. I'll be buying her the Cinderella Platinum release in October when I buy my copy cause she loves Cinderella.

Wow I'm only sixteen .... but I still enjoy Disney movies and I probably always will (provided they get over this Lilo and Stich, Brother Bear, and Home on the Range stuff.) After all, you only live once, at least in this lifetime, so you might as well live it for yourself.

However, that being said, it is EVIL to refer to a Pretty Sailor Soldier as a Pretty Scout lol~

Yep, nothing wrong with it.

- There's a reason behind buying Disney DVDS and that is of nostalgia. We all come from different generations but we all grew up with Disney. There are movies that were part of our generation and others older than us but that we still grew up watching or doing it for the first time. So, think of it as pictures (they're there to bring back memories).

- Animation is just a medium. And an amazing form of art. It is just here in America where people say it is for kids but: what about The Simpsons, South Park and others? And if you're not into anime, give it a try and you'll be amazed by all the adult situations found in them; most of them are not for kids.

- as we grow up we learn to appreciate animation more. It is amazing the level of detail and hard work that is put in each of these films.

.... in one of my classes at college I said I loved animation and the professor was like "really?" not in a surpise kind of a way, but as a way of saying that it was ok and nice.

I remember that when we were in high school we still used to watch Disney movies with no problems whatsoever... and we still do. Nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm 35 and love looking on the website on the latest Disney news and thoughts on products. I have all the animation based Treasures (Rarities must buy) and 16 Disney animation movies with 3 Cheapquels and all 6 Pixars. (I do not buy the old live action.) I also loyally buy any reputable release of classic animation and reserve $50 annually for the next WB Golden Collection. (Most of this stuff has gone PD with crappy releases.) I can reserve my appreciation of Hitchcock, noir films and Corman's Poe movies on other websites.

I do have the excuse of twin three year olds but I would still be buying most of the Disney stuff in my collection anyway. I especially love showing old B/W Mickeys to ensure my children grow up with an appreciation of B/W films.
