Why doesn't Disney ever include Princess Eilonwy as a Disney Princess. She is as good as Ariel or Snow White. She is also very sweet.

I wish Disney had this beautiful little child with the other princesses. What do you think?

I guess it's because 1) The Black Cauldron is too dark to include in the princess collection and it really appeals more to your average boy than girl, and 2) Since very few people know The Black Cauldron even exists, Disney thinks Eilonwy products won't sell well because many people don't know who she is. Sad, but true.

Really, Disney's Adventurers collection bugs me more because their line consist of Peter Pan, Aladdin, Hercules, and Tarzan. 3 modern Disney movies out of 4. At least the princess line was evened out (3 classics-Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and 3 modern-Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin). They need to add at least one other classic character. My guess is they avoided Mowgli because he's too similar to Tarzan and they avoided Robin Hood because they seem to only want to focus on humans. I think they should add Prince Phillip to the list. I mean, if they were able to make Peter Pan of all people look tough enough to attract boys' attention, they should have no problem with Phillip.

Unfortunately they even forget Pocahontas and Mulan sometimes... two of the greatest heroines ever!!

I don't know about Mulan though. she's not a princess and Shang ain't a prince. but Poca and Kida are Princesses so why aren't they included :?

they should a non-heroine line for people like Alice, Megara, Esmerelda, Jane and others.

They're just not commercially appealing. They're not frilly and lacey like the other princesses.

Poca's dress in Poca II was frilly.. and so Esmerelda's underdress ;) :P

Peter Pan is an adventurer? Okay - so I suppose hiding treasure and calling your nemesis a 'codfish' counts as an adventure does it.

Disney Adventurers should be chosen from:

Jim Hawkings
Milo Thatch
Tarzan (Lord Greystoke)
Captain Li Shang
Hercules
Captain John Smith
Aladdin
Taran
Prince Phillip

yes, there's a bias towards the later films, but that just reflects Disney's own bias. And I refuse to call Peter Pan an adventurer. :P

I think one of the reasons (besides those already stated) that could be used as an excuse for Disney not using Eilonwy as a "Princess" is that she's too young. I know-Jasmine and Aurora are only 15 and 16, but at least they seem much older. Eilonwy may be that age, but she talks and acts very immature. She's more like Alice than Ariel.

Agreed. Not just that, but she looks a lot younger. I need to go watch that movie now, haven't seen it in quite a while.....(pulls cobwebs off dvd and goes to watch it  :D )

i agree. the game is obviously geared towards little girls. most little girls who want to be princesses want to be fancy princesses. a little girl today is not going to know who eilonwy is. also, they probably picked the ones with the most obvious questions and answers they could think of. :) they can't put too much work into the princess personality game

Personally, I think Eilonwy is far more beautiful than princess Aurora... She looks more Human-Like...

I think Auroa is the prettiest princess...

I think Megara counts as a princess, cause following the disney version (well the myth version too, but especially the disney one) shouldn't Hercules be "Prince" of the Gods, since he is the son of Zues, king of the Gods, and that would make Megara just as much of a princess as Belle or Cinderella. I think she should be added as it would add some ethnic flavour to the series.
Also they could have made her garb, more grecian by making it white with gold and or powder blue accents... I think she would be a great addition to the collection, and fits more than tinkerbell. What's tinker bell princess of? the fairies?

I think they are adding Mulan and Pocahontas to the princess collection, cause I was in a brand new disnewy store yesterday, and the had very good quality costumes, the kind I would expect from disney, but thought I would never see, and they had mulan garb in the princess section and her picture was under the disney princess banner, as was Pocahontas'.

I don't really want to get into technicalities but i will anyway...
:P
It doesn't show meg and herc getting married, same goes for belle/beast although we assume they do.... So, really the neither of them are princesses on-screen.... The only people who are in fact princesses by birth or by on-screen marriage are pocahontas, snow white, ariel, cinderella, jasmine, kida, aurora, and Eilonwy. Tinkerbell, as far as i know, isn't a princess of anything... Shang isn't a prince (or at least thats what i thought), so Mulan should never be called a princess technically.....

But honestly, i don't really care. It sure seems that i do since i wrote a miniature novel on the subject.. :o .. Oh well.... Ignore what i said... :D
