I'm doing another survey, this time I'm asking all you Disney fans out there which of these films do you think are the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd best films of the 1940's. If you want to, you can also write which is the least favorite of these films (I never use worst, there is no worst film in my opinion).
Here's the list:
Pinocchio
Fantasia
Dumbo
Bambi
Saludos Amigos
The Three Caballeros
Make Mine Music
Fun & Fancy Free
Melody Time
The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad
My top favorites:
1. Fantasia
2. Bambi
3. Dumbo
& my least favorite:
Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad (I'm not saying it's a bad film, but I think it's not up to par with the other animated features)

The three best are...
Pinocchio
This movie has sentimental value to me, so that's one of the reasons why I like it so much. Plus, the animation is astounding.
Dumbo
I used to like this film as a kid, then for some reason, I came to dislike, but over the past year, it's become one of my top favourites.
Fantasia
This film is fabulous in many ways; the animation and music mix well to the point at which it soars. My only real qualm is the Rite of Spring segment, which makes me depressed for some reason.
The weakest is...
Melody Time
I think this is here due to its overly episodic nature. All the other package films that I have seen were better, as they seemed to either not become too fragmented or kept to a theme to link together. This didn't.

The only Disney animated movies from the 40's that I've seen in the past 5 years are Dumbo, Bambi, and Pinocchio. I remember some parts of Fantasia from when I was little..it was a pretty good movie..it was just a little boring in some parts.
So..
1. Bambi
2. Pinocchio
3. Dumbo
4. Fantasia

For me the list would go like this:
1. Pinocchio
2. Bambi
3. Dumbo
4. Ichabod & Mr. Toad
5. Fun & Fancy Free
6. Melody Time
7. Make Mine Music
8. Fantasia
9. The Three Caballeros
10. Saludos Amigos
I very rarely watch all the way through any of the last five films... I just like segments of them. That's why the first five get higher rankings. Pinocchio's my favorite animated film ever, so it's easily on top.

Pinocchio is the best one for me! I remember watching this non-stop at age 3. My parents started to remember every line by heart!
Now that I see it today, I think this movie has the best animation of the movies that came in the 40's, it also has the best story-line.
1. Pinocchio
2. Bambi
3. Fantasia
4. Ichabod/Mr. Toad
5. Dumbo
6. Fun Fancy Free
7. Melody Time
8. The Three Caballeros
I have yet to see "Make Music Mine" or "Saludos Amigos"!

You know when I was making that list I was saying to myself "I'm sure there were 10 films released during the 40s!" I knew I had forgotten one! It's a sign of old age!

Dumbo was the best during that time period for me. But none of them were really that great. Pinocchio would be a second. Both have emotional value, whereas the rest I don't even take the time to remember.

You don't think Disney had any great movies from the 40's but think Disney is divine?

By my name, I mean that what little that is good about Disney is divine enough to make up for the rest of the crap. I'm sorry if you don't agree.

Yeah I guess The Little Mermaid is divine but the rest is "crap". So much for Disney's divinity!

You seem to think that I only care about The Little Mermaid. You can see how assumptions are easily mistaken.

Yeah, the 40s was one of Disney's greatest decades, wasn't it? Followed I believe by the 90s, then the 50s, 60s, 80s, 30s, 70s, new millenium.
I say Dumbo is the best film of the 40s, followed by Pinocchio in 2nd place, Fun and Fancy Free in 3rd, Fantasia in 4th, and Bambi in 5th.
