I'm trying to come up with a topic for a persuasive essay that is due soon. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Widescreen is a better way to view widescreen movies than fullscreen. :)

 Great idea Luke! This would be an awesome oppertunity to show average people how superior widescreen format is.

a persuasive essay should probably be more relative to something that is objectional or can be approached by other perspective angles. I dont think anyone else would object to your thesis and it would probably be difficult to present or illustrate archetypal support in terms of efficient attestation to why one format is better on paper, other than your assertion. If it's just for a highschool assignment though, nevermind me.

Another cool thing is that you are allowed to you visual aids. I can bring in Widescreen to Foolscreen comparisons to show the class after explaining the difference. Already looking forward to this. :D

How is this subject not that way? There is a huge division in the public these days - some that love widescreen, some that love fullscreen. Each group has their own persuasive reasons for preferring one over the other. Thats exactly what this assignment is about: to talk about something that you feel should be adressed and to try and persuade your audience to agreeing with you.

BTW: This is a college class.

I meant that it would be harder to present and support on paper without visual aid but since you are allowed to bring in articles, etc than go for it!

Uusally a persuasive essay is relative to an objectional or general conflicting subject btw. Most people don't really have an opinion on the aspect ratio of dvd's, that's what I meant... but it sounds like a good idea...

Good luck!

I agree that this topic could work. When i had my first college persuasive essay i basically convinced everyone in my class not ever to go tanning again.... Hehe :D It was fun. No one likes seeing pictures of cancer. I hope that those kids actually listened. I know a girl from high school whose mother is battling bad skin cancer as a result of such frequent trips to the tanning bed.... Anyhow, lets not get into my old paper.

Let us know how your paper turns out! :)

"You don't get it. We're in college now. We're being judged on a whole new level! Theories and footnotes, shades of meaning, nuance, spelling-- where does it end, WHERE DOES IT END?!"

I think it's a great topic (and not just cause I came up with it), and hopefully, you'll enlighten the misinformed. Good luck, and do let us know how it goes.
