A couple of points:

~ The way the box cover is shaped makes it look like its going to have a slip cover, like with SB & BATB.
~ Instead of Barbosa holding a skull like he was in the original poster, his hand is now just on his chin.

I like it a lot too. Nice to see that they're being faithful to the original promotional artwork, though I would've liked the skull too, or the teaser poster. A fantasy of mine would be having the teaser poster as a slipcover and this as the actulal keepcase art. But it's not bad at all, I'm glad this has some really nice art. Better than I can say for Warners' T3 artwork, which was recently redesigned and looks bad now, or even the redesigned, final Sleeping Beauty artwork. If indeed Disney does release
a Platinum Edition of it in the future, I hope that the old cover for the SE wil be turned into the Platinum cover.

Anyway - back on topic - love the artwork and can't wait to add this one to my clollection. Where'd you find it. Jack?

Not at all what I expected, but I do like the picture used on the bottom third of the cover and the use of Black as the dominant color. And I agree, it does appear to be a slipcase cover.

However, I am really annoyed by the "big head" design craze that seems to be sweeping the studios lately and am sad to see Disney following the pack.

Are you sure it is not a fake?

It is very possible that this isn't fake because it's although remaining faithful to original poster art, this is a little uninspired.

Do like the bottom half though :)

I LOVE it! I especially like how it has a slipcover. With this, Alias: Season Two and the Treasures all coming out at the same time, December 2nd is going to be a great day indeed. :D

I too, am annoyed by having heads float in mid-air on the cover.

What annoys me even more is if they have one scene a top another - like on the Sleeping Beauty cover, they have Phillip getting ready to kiss Aurora on the top, and on the bottom, Phillip fighting the dragon. Practically the same thing with the POTC cover. When I look at covers that have dual scenes from the movie like that, it makes me feel uneasy. I don't know why, it just does. :|

I like it. :D Unlike many people, I like it when studios use the theatrical posters for their movies because most of the time I prefer the poster to the cover art. I like how they tweaked the poster for this one so that we still have the familiar poster we all know and love, but it's reworked enough in some spots to make it its own.
