Mislabeled Pinocchio DVD

Hello all,
I have just sat down to watch my copy of Pinocchio and low and behold, while the box says Pinocchio the disc says Pinocchio, the movie is Prince of Egypt.
In some cases production errors like this can be rare and valuable, but I have no clue in this case. Should I just chuck it (bought it a while ago and don't have the receipt) or is it actually worth something.
Thanks,
Barranger

I would get in touch with the makers of the DVD and let them know, maybe they will replace it

I've heard of this situation on a few occasions in the past. Must be a very old DVD you have!

It stinks that your movie isn't the correct movie... but I gotta say that I have NEVER heard of this happening... it's kinda cool to me actually.
Hopefully you can get a replacement and also... I'd keep the disc with the error just for the sake of owning something out of the ordinary.

Wierd!
Considering that Pinocchio and The Prince of Egypt are made by opposing studios, that's just...strange.
But, yeah, call Walt Disney Home Entertainment Consumer Relations, as they call themselves when I call, and see what they can do for you. They can be reached at 1-800-723-4763 (in the United States) or 1-888-877-2843 (in Canada.)
Good luck, and do tell us how it turns out! Very interesting, if strange, situation.

Happened to me once out of about 2,000 CD and DVD purchases. Bought Woody Guthrie and got Celine Dion. They are lucky they didnt have a wrongful death suit on their hands. A few seconds of that cow and I was ready to kill myself.

Even though they are made by opposing companies, they probably use the same DVD manufacter. And if it's an assembly line kind of this, these mistakes are bond to happen

That's probably the most likely case there. We actually have a thread dominated to such slip ups in this thread:

If something like that happened to me, before I thought to think about how valuable it could be, I think I would hit the ceiling. Maybe you're onto something. But... *pause for laughter* , I can't imagine something like that being worth much to a collector. Though that could also have something to do with my not having the mind of a true collector.
I actually find it funny to think how a collector might first of all, approach a person with your rare item. I imagine the collector who forks over buku bucks for what you've got, looks something like Eyegore from Young Frankenstein, and rubs his hands together in a crafty, opportunistic fashion like George W. Bush a lot ("eggssssssellent!"), and when he walks away from you with his cherished item in-hand, he trips over his overlong pant leg and loses his Bill Gates-ish glasses, making this instance the first in which you noticed he was even wearing glasses.
Imagine the item proudly displayed on a collector's shelf, and the people who
might come to gawk at the freaky item- "has it cultivated it's own teeth and tongue yet?" And the rednecks who'd come by and ask him if it's edible, they're willing to part with $3 for that disc as a luxury beer coaster. It's a good bargain, right? Deals like this don't come along everyday. Anyway, as was already pondered by another member, when you popped in the Disney disc - didn't the DreamWorks logo tip you off that you weren't about to enjoy a good Mouse-House flick? Do you live in Region 2-land, maybe in Europe, Disney owns DreamWorks' film library?

This has happened to me before. Bought all 3 "Chronicles of Narnia" discs, and the PRINCE CASPIAN/DAWN TREADER disc was actuallly encoded with THE SILVER CHAIR instead!
Took it back and got a refund.
The Whole Truth...

Howdy!
The reason for this happening is because Disney and Dreamworks both have their DVDs pressed and encoded by Technicolor of Southern California. (If you can make out the extremely tiny writing on the inner rim of the disc [if you can make it out], it says "TECHNICOLOR/CA" on there.)
Also, if you have like a laptop or a portable DVD player that plays Region Ones and you're traveling to Egypt or Malaysia, please make sure that your
Pinocchio DVD
REALLY has
Pinocchio on there, if y'all know what I mean!

OMG! When we got our DVD player, the first movie I rented from Blockbuster was Pinocchio and it had Prince of Egept on it!!!! I told the guy and Pinocchio dissapeared from their shelf for a few days and then a normal copy returned. I wish I had lied and said I lost it and kept it now.
