I was watching Raiders of the Lost Ark, and I wonder if Disney got any inspiration for the character Abu in Aladdin from the monkey in Raiders.





Just one of my many random thoughts.

1. You know that mokeys have been on this planet much longer before movies were even were invented!

2. Well if you listen to the Aladdin commentary, the directors admitted that they "stole" ideas from Raiders of the Lost Ark in order to make Aladdin. However when the directors came to apologize to Speilberg, he said it was alright since he actually "stole" many of Raider's scenes from other movies. It's possible that the idea for Abu came from Raiders of the Lost.

3. Did you know Frank Welker voiced both the monkey in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Abu!

Like the others have said, the Abu connection is possible, but there is another more major and obvious connection between Disney and Spielberg:

Actually the other day I was watching Aladdin with the pop-up facts on (a great feature, more movies should do this) and during "One Jump Ahead" when Abu has the sword it said that that was sort of a borrowed scene from Indiana Jones.

I don't really know but it could be possible

I noticed on the credits for Raiders of the Lost Ark that there is a character named Abu who was played by Kiran Shah. I don't even remember who this character was or where he/she fit in.

No problem! It's such a cool feature, hope you enjoy it!

Another connection between Disney & Spielberg is that while in production on JAWS, he didn't know what music to use for when Jaws approaches an unexpecting victum (you know...buh bum, buh bum, etc.)
One day, he was watching BAMBI, & suddenly he got what he was looking for. In Bambi, when the hunters approach, the musical score is very similar to Jaws (buh, buh, bum-buh, buh, bum). He used this as a template for the famous Jaws theme.

Wow! I never realized how similar they are! Man, now everytime I watch Jaws, I'll think of Bambi and Man.
