Is there a list of Gold Collection DVD's available? I have several and wonder how many there are. I know they "discontinued" the line, and several of the Gold Collections are previously Limited Issues, etc.

Also, why are there so many banners for Bug's Life? I have the Gold Collection one, but was at the store the other day to find another copy with no banner, and now another one is coming out....

Amazon has a listing <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/br ... z">here</a>.

But before remembering that, I put together this, which I hope this is complete...

Pinocchio
Saludos Amigos
The Three Caballeros
Make Mine Music
Fun and Fancy Free
Melody Time
Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad
Alice in Wonderland
The Sword in the Stone
The Aristocats
Robin Hood
The Fox and the Hound
The Black Cauldron
The Rescuers Down Under
Pocahontas
Hercules
Mulan

A Goofy Movie
Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas
Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World

Mary Poppins
Bedknobs and Broomsticks

A Bug's Life

As for A Bug's Life, the new Collector's Edition will be the fifth DVD release of the film.

There are:

Standard DVD, released April 20, 1999

<img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000 ... ZZZZZZ.jpg">
2-Disc Collector's Edition, released November 23, 1999

<img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000 ... ZZZZZZ.jpg">
Gold Collection (same content as the initial Standard DVD), released August 1, 2000

<img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000 ... ZZZZZZ.jpg">
Pixar 15th Anniversary Gift Set (which is the same standard/Gold disc), released October 30, 2001

<img src="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/abl.jpg">
and now the new 2-Disc Collector's Edition, May 27, 2003

Seems like every time a new Pixar film hits theaters, Disney puts out a new DVD of A Bug's Life.

It's a pity how all these box sets and releases push the basic discs, when the Pixar Collector's Editions are sooo great.

thing is - not everyone wants the features as such. It's nice to have the option of cheaper price (though in Disney'd case, not by much) instead of the features. Pixar 4 disc set would be good if it wasn't cheaper to get the discs separately (and the SEs at that) :lol:

Thanks! The three pack UK Pixar looks cool! Wish they had that here; but my guess is when Nemo comes out they might do something like that (minus Toy Story).

Must add Pete's Dragon to the list... (don't own it and haven't seen it)

Both toy stories in there. It was a decent idea of disneys to release them all together

and thanks to a tip-off from Loomis (Thanks again Loomis!), I recently got this from Australia (saving it as a Christmas present for someone)

Contains single disc Toy Story 1 and 2, but 2 disc Bug's Life and Monsters, Inc. making a 6 disc set! (In widescreen and with DTS!)

And being Australian, it's reasonably cheap!

working this out- feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

110 AUD/1.09 (Aussie tax)= approx 101

+25 international ship= 126

Using currency converter for 101AUD --->£43.76. Over £18, so slap on 17.5% VAT as import duty = £51-50

Now converting that p&p= 9.95

Total approx £62 - very similar to retail price of the uk set for 2 more dics and widescreen (though amazon's doing uk discs tenner cheaper). Impressive nonetheless

No problem, mate.

Just a note on ordering DVDs from Australia: EzyDVD (the one mentioned here) can be the more expensive online option at times.
www.atlanticdvd.com.au tends to be my shop of choice, as they are often cheaper than Ezy and offer faster service sometimes.

If you want to compare Aussie prices, there is a Pricecrawler at www.dvdplaza.com.au

If you want to see the difference between Aussie DVDs and their US counterparts, this site offers a good R1 v R4 comparison on most reviews:
www.michaeldvd.com.au

Hope this all helps someone...

Well I missed paying import duty and tax, but yes, I suppose you have to figure that in.
Now converting that p&p= 9.95
At the time I ordered, Ezy didn't have the international surcharge on the set, so I got it for cheaper postage (but unlike most other Ezydvd orders it took about 4 weeks to arrive instead of the normal 5-8 days).

All in all I got it for about £46.
