favorite live-action features

for some strange reason, most people only associate disney with animation. however, walt expanded his horizon in the 40s and produced live-action films garnering academy awards for his efforts. since then, the live-action disney flim has become a legacy in its own right. and so i ask, which live actoin disney films touched your heart and stay with you forever? that's right, this is a favorites list created exclusively for disney live-actoin films (yes, mary poppins, and bedknobs count). i'll start since i'm a super huge freak about the vintage disneyanna feature stuff.

1. The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band
2. Mary Poppins
3. The Swiss Family Robinson
4. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
5. The Happiest Millionaire

1. Perri
2. The Happiest Millionaire
3. Amy
4. Bedknobs and Broomsticks
5. Night Crossing

I think..well, maybe not...or...well... it´s difficult, I like so much of them

Most of my favorites come from the past few decades. I haven't seen nearly as many of the films from Walt's time and slightly before and after as I'd like to. But I'm checking more out all the time, and I find that I usually enjoy most of them, even if some of them have dated poorly.

Of course, every time Disney botches up these live action films on DVD (and they've botched more than they haven't in the past 2 years), it keeps me from seeing them, since I'm not going to pay for a rental or 'blind' purchase for something that Disney couldn't even present in its original ratio.

To tell you the truth, I'm surprised many don't list Old Yeller - not just here, but many places on the net.

IMO, its very hard to beat. There's something very sublime and very touching about it that no live-action Disney film has matched.

Old Yeller is one of my favorites. We watched it once every year in elementary school, along with Pollyanna, and many other Disney flicks. It's a wonder we learned anything :P

The thing about Old Yeller is, it is so simple. It was not a tremendous adventure, or terrible tragedy, or something very fanciful. It was just a story one could actually imagine happening to a frontier family. It's simplicity is what makes it so special.

i loved the dexter reilly movies growing up. and treasure island is still one of the coolest adventure movies. old yeller has got to be one of the most effective dramas ever made. the story is so universal and real. and i'd round my picks out with pollyanna, swiss family robinson and the original parent trap(as you can see i think they made good choices for the vault disney collection)
