I was looking at the release dates of the older Disney animated movies the other day and noticed that a few were released really close together.
I've got two main examples
The Adventures Of Ichabod and Mr Toad (Released 5th October 1949)
Cinderella (Released 15th Febuaray 1950)
The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh (11th March 1977)
The Rescuers (22nd June 1977)

As you can see these movies were released really close together, I was just wondering if anyone had any idea's on way Disney did this.

I'm no expert, but could the fact that two of those pictures were 'package features' have anything to do with it?

Anyone?

All that needed to be done on "Many Adventures" was the transition animation, as I'm sure you know, so it wouldn't have been a very time-consuming production. Although, why 4 years passed without an animated feature, and then Disney released 2 within months, I'm not sure.

Maybe they felt they could adequately get additional advertising for Rescuers through Pooh.

i think disney rereleased other animated features in the between time too. i know snow white got a rerelease in the 70s, as well as the 50s. not to mention the other classics bambi dumbo and the alice in wonderland who garnered a cult following in the seventies for its psychadelic possiblities. my only guess for the back to back releases is the studios demand for animated family fare. the public wanted more cartoons from disney and thats what the studio gave them.

The same was also sorta done with Fantasia 2000, TENG, and Atlantis...

Then done again with Lilo and Stitch and Treasure Planet.
