I have just started to get the Disney Treasures DVD sets, and I was wondering if anyone has heard if there will be any future collections arriving, and if so, what will be on them?

(So far I've managed to get Mickey Mouse B&W, Mickey Mouse In Living Color, The Complete Goofy...but, MAN! These are getting a tad expensive on the secondary market!)

Here is some info from the UltimateDisney.com FAQ section:

What DVDs will be in upcoming Walt Disney Treasures tins?
The 2003 Walt Disney Treasure releases are expected to include Donald Duck Cartoon Collection, Mickey Mouse in Living Color: Volume 2, and Wartime Cartoons. Other sets rumored for future years include Dr. Syn, Alias The Scarecrow, Walt Disney's True Life Adventures, The Mickey Mouse Club and the Disney's 1950s television series Zorro. The First Wave, released December 4, 2001, included Mickey Mouse in Living Color, Silly Symphonies, The Complete Davy Crockett Televised Series, and Disneyland U.S.A.. The Second Wave, released December 3, 2002 included Mickey Mouse in Black & White, The Complete Goofy, and Behind the Scenes at Walt Disney Studios.

It was originally made for Disney's TV series and aired as a 3-parter. It was exhibited theatrically in Europe in 1963, and finally in American theaters in the fall of 1975. It starred Patrick McGoohan as Dr. Syn and you might know it by the title "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh." It's got a nice-sized following.

I have it on good authority that in addition to Donald, MM Color, and the Wartime Collection, the fourth title this year will be Disney in Space.

Next year we will see the remainder of the MM B&W shorts, a complete Pluto collection, MM Club and a special collection of a whole assotment of things. 8)

You should get the Behind the Scenes set, as it is still available at many retailers. Get this set (which is arguabley the best set) before it becomes rare like the others!

What they need to release is the wonderful Donald and Goofy educational shorts. ALSO SONG OF THE SOUTH. And some shorts from the 50s and 60s that just don't fit on any other set.

Disney in Space was delayed till 2004. We get Tommorowland, Donald, MM Color 2, and Wartime this tear.

It was a 1960s TV series / theatrical film starring Patrick McGoohan as Dr. Syn. You might know it by the title "The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh." It's got a nice following, but I don't know too much about it.
Hey, thanks!
:)

I'm a fan of his series The Prisoner as well, so now my interest is even more peaked!

Sounds like a lot of good stuff arriving!
I especially am looking forward to the Donald, Wartime Collection, More Mickey, and his little dog Pluto too! ;)

i am really looking forward to the wartime cartoons, especially with what is happening in the world today. I have a feeling that this set is going to be sold out even more quickly than the others...then again, i could be wrong.

What is the tomorrowland one all about?

I recently saw the breakdown for Disney in Space so I am not sure how it was delayed. I have seen the plans for the next eight volumes (including this years) and Tommorowland is not one of them. Where did you hear about this title and what are the details. :? It sounds interesting.

Also, many of the shorts from the 50's and 60's will be a part of the fourth volume I mentioned coming out next year.

i think that the "tomorrowland" and "disney in space" are probably one in the same. it sounds like a lot of the science specials from Walt Disney Presents (i.e. our friend the atom, etc.) will be the ones included. this is just speculation.
I have seen the plans for the next eight volumes (including this years)
can you give us a list of the next eight volumes, and what are the specs on these discs?
Eh, I remember reading about the four sets this year in a Leanord Maltin interview recently. It is a good bet that SPACE and TOMORROWLAND are the same.

This special collection... What kind of stuff would be included? SPORT GOOFY IN SOCCERMANIA is a rare short that was passed by already on the Goofy set, maybe it will be there.

I am glad to hear about a Pluto set, that sounds great!

Looking most forward to the 'Disney goes to war shorts' as I find them historically interesting. Hope to see them by the end of the year.
Also waiting for the Treasures sets (or something like them) to be released here, because buying stuff from the secondary market in the US is VERY expensive (especially when you factor in the exchange rate).

I don't think that the Sport Goofy in Soccermania short will appear in this set because it was actually released in 1987 and was a bridge between the Goofy shorts and Ducktales. This short will likely appear on one of the future Ducktales releases because it the first appearance of the Beagle Boys and one of the earlier Scrooge McDuck appearances after Mickey's Christmas Carol.

As I said above, the next eight volumes includes the four already announced. After that, the next four are in the very early stages of development and could change drastically before release, but the titles I mentioned should give you a pretty good idea of the intent. I have already provided as much info as I am authorized to release but rest assured the sets for next year will continue to be amazing.

One last question... Does anyone know if Disney has plans to release their documentaries "The Walt Disney Story," "The Hand Behind the Mouse: Ub Iwerks Story," and "Frank and Ollie" on DVD?
