Wow...this was one of my favorite rides when I took my first trip to Disneyland way back when. None of the reports give a real definitive description of what happened.

Very sad.

I heard about this earlier on the radio, but it still seems there isn't much detail being released.

It's scary to think I was riding that thing just a few months ago.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Being written by the Disney-owned ABC News, I'm quite sure that it's real. This is so horrible! Why is Disney falling apart in all directions?!?!

As I forgot to do so in my earlier post, my condolences to those who were in this accident and their loved ones. This is a damn shame.

If we put this into perspective, considering the millions upon millions of people who have rode on the attraction since it opened, the safety record is extreamly high. Theme parks all over the world have the same problems. I'm sure other holiday activities like watersports, or maybe even just a weekly swim in your local swimming pool are just as dangerous. In fact, I'm sure that they are more dangerous.

Of course, this is not an excuse for the accident, simply basic analytical number crunching. Looking at satistics like this does nothing to help the family and friends of those affected by the accident.

But I don't want to come down on Disney too hard though. As I say, I doubt that there is one theme park in the world that has been open for more than 10 years that doesn't have a similar incident. All of the Disney parks have a good safety record and despite what some people on the Internet are saying (simply because they're not getting the rides developed that they want to see, I guess) I'm 100% sure Disney still gives health and safety at their parks the utmost attention.

That's true... although Sydney's famous Luna Park closed after four students (from my old school in fact) died in a amusement ride fire. Before my time though...

Their track record is pretty good. We'll probably have more of a chance of dying of boredom in Brother Bear than on a runaway train.

And speaking of the runaway train, has it come back?
I hope it isn't lost...
