I listened. It was very nice. Boy, they knew how to write music back then, didn't they? Well, Menken still gets it right sometimes today, like the Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin remakes.

I always appreciate it whenever we can take a moment to appreciate both The Beast as a character as well as Benson's contributions to the role. Everyone always jumps straight to Belle, and I'm always like, "Wait ... the title is referring to TWO characters, right?"

I hadn't realized that these guys had worked together before "Beauty and the Beast," though I guess that makes sense.
I've often thought about when on the timeline these guys would have known they were signing on for a DISNEY project. I know, for example, that Jodi has said that she had little sense at the time that this was going to be a landmark project. But it seems like Paige and Richard knew they were being chosen for something with a legacy, and that everyone auditioning WANTED to be a part of this.
*Snaps* for celebrating what it means that Belle would be a more popular princess with the boys.
I also love Paige acknowledging that she "shares" Belle with a lot of people, that it takes a lot of people to bring an animated character to life. I often feel like it's lost on the larger press that the work isn't done when a celebrity records some lines. Like, proportionally, Glenn Keane ought to be getting as many red carpet premiere photos as Mandy Moore. And so I always respect when the voice talent gives credit to the larger workforce.

Yes, so right Patch, Paige acknowledging it takes a voice and an animator to bring a character to life is a really honest and great thing she does.

Recently I discovered that I have an original italian poster of the film. The poster that I have is the one where Belle wears her peasant gown but in pink and purple. I understand that they made this change of colors due to marketing like they did with Snow White re-release but it's curious to see that even Mattel released a fashion pack with this design. Does anybody knows if this was pure marketing or if they considered to make it pink in the early development of the film? I read somewhere that they wanted the golden gown to be pink but I couldn't find anything about the peasant gown.

I did not know they had considered her gold gown in pink! I have seen a pink version of it in Disney clip art and it actually looked really pretty. I don't know if they were really going to have that ballgown as pink ever though for the movie. And you are right they had her peasant outfit as purple and pink in the Mattel doll pack! I don't know the answer to your question, though.

There was a discussion about it here:

From the art book:
The alternate poster was aimed at the traditional Disney family audience. The artists were chagrined to discover Belle's dress and the Feather Duster's plumes were the wrong colors.

The golden gown was meant to be lavender or pink for marketing purposes but Chris Sanders wanted it to be gold to make her different from the other princesses specially with Aurora who also wears a pink gown.

I don't understand why they also wanted the ballgown to be pink when Belle already has the pink outfit that she uses during something there. I remember that they used this gown in merchandise so making two pink gowns for Belle wouldn't have had much sense in terms of merchandise. Parents wouldn't differentiate them.

It’s hard to imagine Belle wearing anything but gold in that scene! It just fits so perfectly in the ballroom. Glad the creative team overruled marketing.

Absolutely. I can't imagine which tone of lavender or pink would fit with the colors of the ballroom.

I think I've seen her peasant outfit in purple somewhere before. Was it the original poster where Beast is in the clouds? If not there, I can't recall where it was.
I can't imagine Belle's ballgown in pink at all considering they were purposely doing something with the dichotomy of blue v. gold in that film.

Yes, it was purple and pink in the poster, and yes, they thought of gold and blue so why did they ever think of pink?
Thanks
Thumper and
Farerb, too!
