Snow White DVD/Blu Ray Combo:(2 Disc DVD w/Blu Ray)
- This is the combo set that comes with comes with
2 DVD discs and the Blu Ray Hi Definition Disc of the film only (no bonus on Blu). This set is the first 2 Disc DVD/Blu Ray combo that Disney has released. This release will ALSO be released a month early, and will feature
Snow White int he center of the case with the mirror in the backgrop.
Are you sure about this set having 2 DVDs and a Blu-ray in it? Could it be that this set is just sold in a DVD case versus a Blu-ray case, but still holds only one standard-def DVD and 2 Blu-ray discs? If you're sure that this does indeed have 2 DVDs in it, plus a Blu-ray, please post where you found that info! This is so confusing.
I still think that the only way to get the 2-disc DVD is to wait until November...

I'm pretty sure going by Amazon's description of the set for Blu Ray only it says Two Disc Blu, for the DVD set it says DVD and Blu Combo.
Hey I mean if you don't want to wait a whole month then why not? What set are you getting Amy the regular or the plush/book??

thanks for the list. 6 different versions is really not bad. Wonder if there was ever a release before with more.

Yes, I figured this has to be the way it is.
Can you give me 1 good reason why Disney would release 2 of the exact same products in different packaging? (2-disc Blu Ray + 1 disc dvd)?
That would be just silly.

I'm not rebuying it- I'm happy with the 2001 DVD set. Are you still thinking about getting the plush set, Mike?

I thought it was a cool idea at first but then I thought what would I do with them?

Loomis had a WISTable idea...
WIST #3:
juliancarter: I also don't have anyone to discuss animation with at home.
Loomis: You could do what I do and assemble an army of plush toys, make tea and lemonade for them and tell them all about your day.

Not from Disney, but there have been multiple-cover releases for
Reservoir Dogs,
Heathers, and
Sin City. Same product, the only thing different was the covers.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that the reason why they're putting the Blu-rays in the DVD packaging is because some people don't want to upgrade to Blu because the cases don't "match" their existing collection. Blu-ray cases, just in case you didn't know, are shorter and a slight bit skinnier than DVD cases.

I'm sure this is a very very select a minority group who cares about such things. I personally believe that the DVD combo is to entice users who may want to try the blu ray disc, but don't want to lose the second disc in bonus features of DVD.

Then they should buy more Blu-Ray's and put them together. Then they would match

.
Kidding aside, I think that isn't a valid reason at all. DVD cases didn't match the VHS cases in size at all, and it didn't matter then.

I honestly think in some way they want to "trick" people either literally or psychologically.
BECAUSE the DVD-ONLY version is not going to be there and some people won't know...
Some people may think its a DVD and the blu-ray is just a FREEBIE
OR
Others may buy it and realize they were "tricked" (not really cause it says on the packaging) and it would be too late to return.
I think its a stupid move because now stores will carry less supplies of each and those who want the blu-ray IN A blu-ray case may not find them...

They don't want to "trick" anyone, their pushing Blu Ray hardcore...if you don't want to adapt wait the month. People aren't as dumb as you think if it says Blu Ray on it they'll known they need a player to play it, if not I'm srue it won't take them 30 days to realize that.

So, my assumptions, are still, well, assumptions.
Hmm...
What would help, is if the two combos had more distinct packaging. And some better descriptions from Disney.

OR they will IGNORANTLY return it, THINKING it was WRONGLY PACKAGED.

Did you say 30days for the return policy? 'cause once you open it you cannot return at all.
Also, I know they are pushing it hardcore, BUT people ARE AS DUMB AS I THINK, I lost my confidence in people's intelligence a LONG time ago and am reminded of it almost everyday sadly.
and after I posted my 1st post, I thought about it and realized the DEFINITELY are hoping to "trick" people. (and I but "trick" in quotes because I don't think DISNEY is doing it maliciously. Just in the normal advertising/marketing way of tricking)

Dang, so it was ZOOMBOOM0688, with the Candlestick in the Snow White Re-Release Platinum discussion thread. Here I was thinking it was Ms. Scarlet with the Revolver in the Parlor

Because Disney has seen all 49 pages of this thread and they are catering to UD members for more and better slip covers, of course!
I don't think they are really going to be offering the same exact combo, but in a Blu-ray or DVD case. Has this been absolutely verified? It doesn't make sense to me. The 2 theories floated here are:
1. They want to please people who are complaining that the Blu-Ray case doesn't fit nicely in with their DVD cases, or
2. They are trying to trick people into buying Blu-ray discs.
I dunno.... neither of these theories seem to make sense to me.

Ah ha! Taking Escapay as the expert here - no, Disney has NEVER done it before, thus this proves, that Snow White IS the most important of all Princesses!

There will be a new documentary on Snow White Blu Ray !

The Disney Stores Information cannot be correct because it makes no mention of a new Making Of Featurette , which my friend the well known BBC Broadcaster Brian Sibley , and several other well known Disney specialist contributors ( including John Canemaker etc ) recorded in New York earlier this year ( in February or March I think ) , for a new Making Of Featurette for this release , and if you check out the info on the Blu Ray and the DVD they're both identical whereas the whole point I thought was that Blu Ray discs were supposed to have a greater number of features/extras?

I really hope we hear about more bonus features.
By the way, the film is assuredly getting a new restoration, after an interview with one of Disney's film restorers said it was, unless they changed plans since then.
Albert, they can't have a feature about a restoration the film you're watching doesn't have, if it has a new restoration...have they ever done that (Sleeping Beauty?).
UmbrellaFish wrote:BTW, it's nothing new to have a Platinum Release that doesn't include the name "Platinum Edition" anywhere on the cover.
EDIT: Just remembered something... Is that the zodiac featured on the covers?
Other countries have sometimes not had the words "Platinum Edition" on their Platinum Editions, but every single Platinum Edition in the U.S. has had a gold or silver (or aqua for The Little Mermaid) banner saying "Platinum Edition" at the very top.
In the film, the magic mirror has a stone Zodiac around it on the wall. The slave in the mirror comes "from the farthest space", and the Zodiac is associated with magic of course.
