The men's design seems similar to that of Strange World.
I blame Big Hero 6 for my love of ensemble characters.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:47 am Even if we don't see the Teens very much, except Dahlia as she is Asha's best friend, I'm excited about those characters, all different, and I love that the heroine has a groupe of friends in her life. It's very rare in Disney's animated movies.
I'm glad you're enjoying the song.MoonMarc21 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 7:37 am You’re right D82, we still have more songs to listen and we still need to know how it plays out in the movie visually. Having to judge all of the musical numbers just by one song would seem kinda unfair tbh. It will be okay for me if “This Wish” is just fine as long as the other musical numbers are better than that one, but still I do think that it’s a nice song and I’m still listening to it in repeat since I really like the instrumental of the song![]()
Do you mean like "The Work Song" from Cinderella or "Be Our Guest"? I personally like that type of song. Perhaps, I'll like this one more than you did.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:47 am The second song was sang by animals in the forest if I remember well and it's the typical Disney foolish song with animals or objects we use to have in many films, which I'm not particularly fond of.
Oh, I hadn't noticed the castanets. Yes, they're very typical of Spain.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:47 am The I want song is better to me and Ariana's voice is great as well as the lyrics (I can hear castanets : aren't they supposed to be Mediterranean, Spanish or Portuguese?
I think an opening number was already confirmed, so you're probably right most of the songs will take place during the first act.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:47 am Well, on a total of 7 songs in the overall movie, I guess there are probably 4 during the 1st act as I suppose one at the very beginning to introduce the settings and characters of Rosas, then "This Wish" and "You're a Star" which both happen in the 20 minutes footage I attended at Annecy's festival where the song of King Magnifico was not shown and cut to us, but should be there as well.
Great find! Thanks for posting! Those drawings are quite nice. They make me wish the movie was hand-drawn.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:47 am Here's attached a visual of the Teens on a puzzle from the illustrated style guide (not the final look of the characters) and a drawing of Asha, Valentino and Star for an upcoming figure.
It's true it's not very common. I like that too. And as I said before, I personally don't have a problem with large casts. In fact, it's one of the aspects I liked the most about Raya and the Last Dragon or Encanto. What I don't like are the references to the seven dwarfs. The Teens having the same personality traits as them is a bit too much for my liking. More than referencing the film, it seems to me they're copying from it. I would've preferred something more subtle like them crossing the river on a log in one shot like the seven dwarfs or something like that. But we'll see, hopefully it's all more subtle than it sounds.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:47 am Even if we don't see the Teens very much, except Dahlia as she is Asha's best friend, I'm excited about those characters, all different, and I love that the heroine has a groupe of friends in her life. Pocahontas has Nakoma and Tiana has Charlotte and... that's all, except the Big Hero 6 team and the friends Raya made during her journey.
I hope they drop it during Monday Night Football so it can get more viewers around the world rather than botch the marketing by putting it on a morning show that barely anyone watches anymore like Good Morning America.Prince Kido wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 9:47 am About the trailer, my guess is that it might pop up next week between Tuesday and Thursday.
We still have a few days to wait...
I wrote a reply to you comment in my last post, but apparently I accidentally deleted it or something, because now I see it's not there.D23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2023 6:04 am Chris Pine also sung in Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, too.
You're welcome.DisneyFan09 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 6:22 pm Thanks for posting that video, D82!The doll looks amazing and it will be the first Disney doll since Frozen that I will buy.
Oh, it's true. I saw the story, but didn't notice the other doll was next to the travel one in that photo. I'm surprised it's already available in France. Perhaps the store where that person bought it put them on sale earlier by mistake. I think things like that have happened before.Thumper_93 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 4:30 pm The user that has the dolls have posted a history where you can see the basic Asha too. It seems that they are available in France so in a few weeks they should be in other countries too.

Who knows, maybe it's not a coincidence. Since this movie has so many references, I wouldn't be surprised if Asha's dress paid homage, for example, to all the Disney heroines wearing purple. If you think about it, the lacing at the neckline is a bit like Rapunzel's; apart from the shawl, the detail on the dress creates some ruffles which also remind a bit of Megara's outfit; and she has an ankle bracelet like Esmeralda (not to mention a goat as a petWarm Regards wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 5:21 am Very minor but Asha having a shawl/scarf reminds me of Meg from Hercules. Specifically from this scene:
(Probably not a reference on Disney's end - I think it's just my own internalized purple dress comparisons)
Sounds right. I wonder if perhaps, if she travels anywhere, it's through various wish orbs (perhaps she goes inside them and they are their own imagined "world" in a way).D82 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 12:51 pm The back of the box reveals the little satchel Asha has on her belt apparently serves to hide Star. I already suspected that's what it was used for, but I wasn't sure if Star could fit in there. I think it was Disney's Divinity who noticed a while back Asha only wears the satchel in some images and not in others. Back then I checked the trailer again to see if she wore it there and she doesn't, what made me suspect she only wears it after meeting Star to hide it when she returns to the city.
Come to think of it, do we even know what the next WDAS film will be after Wish? Original or otherwise? I was under the impression F3 and Z2 were still years away.Disney's Divinity wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 7:59 pm TBH, I'm also looking forward to Frozen III and Zootopia 2 since I liked those two original films, but I'm curious to learn what WDAS's next original project will be. They have to be working on something, I imagine, they always keep their projects under wraps in a lot of ways.
We’ll probably find out around the time of Wish’s release.PatchofBlue wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2023 8:32 pmCome to think of it, do we even know what the next WDAS film will be after Wish? I kinda hope they go back to hand-drawn animation, specifically in 2027 for a new Winnie the Pooh movie (to celebrate his first movie’s 50th Anniversary) or in 2028 for a Mickey Mouse movie (to celebrate the character’s 100th Birthday), maybe that movie about the search for Mickey Mouse that was in the works all those years ago.MoonMarc21 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 6:31 am Whatever the original movie after Wish will be, I just hope that they use the new graphical style and improve on it as they make their originals. Who knows, maybe they’ll implement it in their upcoming sequels.
Also, I forgot to give my opinion of Asha as a face character in the Disney parks. The performer is just as pretty as the one from the movie although I do think that when she was called out to come to the stage, her performance was a bit awkward as she was sometimes flailing her arms around and did that weird “Hi” sign (That should’ve been Mirabel’s mannerism)![]()
That can be cool as well. If anything, they could use both mediums for their upcoming features since they can have a distinct and memorable style for each movie. Both mediums have their strengths and weaknesses but that doesn’t mean they should favor one over the other just because it is “outdated” or such.D23ExpoVisitor25 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 6:36 amI kinda hope they go back to hand-drawn animation, specifically in 2027 for a new Winnie the Pooh movie (to celebrate his first movie’s 50th Anniversary) or in 2028 for a Mickey Mouse movie (to celebrate the character’s 100th Birthday), maybe that movie about the search for Mickey Mouse that was in the works all those years ago.MoonMarc21 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 6:31 am Whatever the original movie after Wish will be, I just hope that they use the new graphical style and improve on it as they make their originals.
