Thanks for posting these great videos, Sotiris! The interview one was indeed hilarious! I am also loving your new icon. I just love how she seems to be taking a peek at the post besides her XD .

I was thinking, though. I really hope that some Disney fans aren't biased enough to enjoy this movie. What I mean is that I have the feeling that if Tangled ends up being more successful than Princess and the Frog some fans will diss it because it is in CG, and automatically praise Princess and the Frog as being "the better film".

I loved Princess and the Frog, but that's not because it is in 2D. The story is good and the characters are great. We all miss 2D animation and we all wanted Tangled to be in 2D, but if the film is great then you should enjoy it for what it is.

And yet, I can just picture Tangled being in 2D and being hailed as the greatest movie ever created, while Princess and the Frog is in 3D and is bashed to pieces. :p

Im more worried about Disney themselves being biased than the fans. because if this does better that will feed into that Eisner mentality that audiences don't want hand drawn anymore. I know new management doesnt think that way, but when they look at their recent hand drawn outings and compare it to Rapunzel and Pixar's success they might hold as strongly to the belief that the medium doesn't matter.

Today at 8 PM EST there's a premiere party of Tangled and on radio disney is gonna report it.

I'm gonna try my best to listen like half an hour, but it kind of sucks because 8 pm est is 12 oclock midnight here in europe :(

Hello, I'm fairly new here but have been following this thread for a long time and the development of the movie since it was called Rapunzel Unbraided. I love 2D animation, but looking at the 2D design of Rapunzel makes me really glad this was in CG, because 2D Rapunzel looks completely identical to Ariel, which would have really pissed me off. Not because I have anything against Ariel, but my biggest peeve about character design is when they just slap different hair and eye color on the same face and call it a different person. It is just such a lost opportunity to make a unique face to me. After all, 2 people can look extremely different from each other and still both be beautiful. Flynn, on the other hand looks way better in 2D.

I have to agree, her face in the movie looks kind of standard/generic CGI. I've seen that face before.

To be honest, I still think that test clip from years ago looks better than anything we'we seen after that. The face has more character, the movements are better, it looks much more epic and "fairytale-ish", and painterly:

No, it won't be. I have read this and all the comments too before you posted it. It's not another bland musical. Jerry is just complaining about the cliches of the genre. Yes, of course there will be an "I Want" song or a "Love Song" or similar themes of "following your dream" or "wanting a family" or "finding where you belong". Most Disney musicals have employed these but that has not made them identical or trite because it's the new spin you put on them or how you handle and flesh out these archetypes that matters. It's like saying all rom-coms suck because they all follow a similar structural formula.

The humour is not that "hip", it's even less contemporary than Genie's from Aladdin and blends in nicely with the film. Miles apart from Shrekish humour.

Yes, the music may not be as top-notch as other Menken work but it's way way better than TPatF's, contrary to what Jerry said.

The film may not be breaking new grounds in storytelling but has a quality that makes it a descent continuation of the Disney Broadway musical legacy we all love.

thanks for the new clips Sotiris :) Mother Gothel just looks amazing !!!

Julian Carter - no one gives a shit about those types of reviews. The film has had more positve reviews than negative and don't blame lasseter he loves disney just as much as walt him self .... and stop comparing it to pixar.

Sorry if this sounds abit mean but i am really fed up of reading through the same hate/dislikes towards this film.

You have to keep in mind that Jerry and a lot of the folks over at cartoon brew are not at all big fans of the fairytale, musical, princess, Disney movie. So even if a wonderful movie came out, but was under that banner, they probably wouldn't be totally satisfied. They want to see innovation and risk-taking. Which I would love to see as well, but at the same time, Disney fairy tales have been my favorite movies my whole life, and so I'll welcome another one. Yes, even if it's just more of the same.

I would have LOVED a big teddy bear Flynn. I love big cuddly guys. I hate cocky heroes. So sick of them and never liked them to begin with. I didn't like Naveen much for this reason. Aladdin won me over because he was only pseudo cocky. But we have no big guys and he looked adorable!

Edited to add: Totally selfish of me, but if he had been bigger I could have had my husband play Flynn and I could be a brunette Rapunzel. Well, maybe he wouldn't have agreed to this, but I could try!

I've been watching all the videos today and I just don't like Mandy's voice for Rapunzel. Which is making me very disappointed.

I read that negative review posted above and the author make mention of the movie being geared towards "the Hannah Montana crowd". Mandy's voice really makes me think this is true. I really don't like how "pop tween-teenager" she sounds.

Why doesn't Disney get new unknown people for voices?

As for the story line, she has been stuck in a tower her whole life! Of course she is going to want to get out. People keep complaining that she is not a strong independent princess, or that her wants are so similar to other princesses, but really how else do you expect a girl to be when she has had no social interactions and has been locked away with a manipulative "mother"?
