I'm a little surprised at how positive the critical reaction has been to the film but that means nothing unless people get out and see it themselves. Either way, it's nice to see critics on different websites almost universally praising the film and I think the one from Film.com sums it up quite well:
"It doesn't matter that the film is just for kids. When it does its job right, everyone watching it is a kid"

Taking the kids to see it on Sunday it's all they have been asking to see....nice to finally see some promo on TV and on radio too I wish they would have done it a litter sooner though,

It came about as a result of watching "Boys: The Sherman Brothers Story" - he saw their songs for Pooh and said, "I've always really liked Winnie the Pooh. I'd go see the new one."

I saw this earlier today, really cute. It's super short (less than an hour before credits), but that's a good thing along with the effort to really make this fit with the earlier Pooh works and not the recent stuff. Loved the new live-action / book opening and use of the main theme song (that corrects Tigger's absence). Nessie short is also nice.
The songs are the only not-so-great part, but at least the imagery used with them is entertaining.
Hard to believe this years WDFA feature turned out better than the Pixar one. Not suprising though considering it was Cars 2.

WINNIE THE POOH Review
It’s refreshing to see a family film that is completely without cynicism or even awareness of pop culture. The new Disney film based on A.A. Milne’s popular characters (...) comes away with an absolutely charming and lovable movie that is clever, funny, and adorable.

I went to see the 8:00 show at AMC in Orlando, FL... and it was
sold out by the time I got there at about 7:20. So we bought our tickets for the 10:00 show, came back to theater at about 9:30-9:40, and had trouble finding two seats together, because it too had sold out!
LOVED the movie. Everything about it.
Edit: DisneyJedi, you make your assumption based on a single person's experience??

Just finished it. Enjoyed it but not nearly as much as I would have hoped.
Some very good dialogue and clever jokes in there but I agree with those who say the music was underwhelming (which is a shame cause I love the songs in Disney movies).
The plot was also very basic and not emotional on any level. In the end the film ended and I felt like there wasn't much point to it. It felt like another DTV one that came to the cinemas (like Piglets Big Movie). True I've never been a huge Winnie the Pooh fan but the original film leaves me with a warm happy feeling while this was just like another unneeded sequel.
Best lines came from Kanga and Rabbit. Rabbit has always been my favourite character but Kanga definitely stepped up in this movie and really made it for me.
Like I said overall I enjoyed it but I couldn't stop thinking the film was a waste of time as it wasn't really necessary which was a shame cause I've been dying to see it for months.
In the end I would have liked to see the 51st film from the Disney animation studio be something new instead of adding to the Winnie franchise. Had the film had more emotional depth maybe I would feel differently but as it stands I am disappointed I expected so much from this film and got little out of it.

I can't wait for when Lumpy the Heffalump returns in the post-credits scene!
DisneyJedi - just wait and see what happens - I haven't been to a sold out movie of any kind in years. I've gone to multiple movies on premiere night or premiere week in the last few years and I've been alone in the theater. I could have done just about anything I wanted during the screening, it was like I owned the place.
I think that sold-out shows are a thing of the past and movies slowly generate their revenue from across the country.

Saw the movie tonight, and I have to say it is my favorite movie so far this summer! I have seen almost all the blockbuster summer movies mind you...childhood memories kicked in for sure!

I wanted to see this movie since the first trailers aired on TV months ago. So I grabbed my three-year-old grand daughter and six-year-old grandson and went to see this Winnie the Pooh film.
It was a shock when we arrived at the 2 pm showing and found it sold out, and so we bought tickets for the 4 pm show and I took the kids to the park tp play for a while. Then we headed back to the theater.
We were among the first into the theater and it filled up very fast. And when the lights went down and the curtains went up, the kids were glued to the screen.
I will have to agree with some who have said this is the best movie of the summer so far. It was barely an hour long, but there is not a boring moment that I can remember. I want to go see this movie again on the big screen, but it has made it to the Top Three movies on my list of Blu-ray "must haves". And, by the way, the kids really enjoyed the film also.
