If you want to support Disney that much, why don't you buy a good movie they released, instead of this?

The BBFC has just rated Alice in Wonderland 3D again so a 3D-BluRay must be on the way.

Just wanted to clarify on the review thing I posted a while ago. I realized part of the way I said this came off really arrogant. I haven't read the books (and thus don't know what I'm talking about), I was only saying that to correlate with everything else I've read about adaptations of the Alice stories: that they're very difficult to translate into a sensical, linear story without losing what makes them what they are to begin with. It was just a personal review, so I wanted to make that correction so that people know I wasn't trying to give a "holier-than-thou" interpretation of the movie.

As for that link you posted, blackcauldron, I can't open laughingplaces.com from my connection for some reason, but a jewelry line does sound interesting. Were they talking about jewelry inspired by pieces worn by characters in the film or something more like merchandise (like a ring with the Red Queen's picture on it, etc. that kind of thing)?

I can see it earning nominations for costumes, special effects, stage design etc., but best picture and director is a HUGE stretch. I mean I loved the film better than some other people, but even I wouldn't call it 'THE BEST PICTURE OF THE YEAR". I would honestly give the nomination to Toy Story 3 since that one accomplished many things.

Did you see this year's list? If Avatar, The Hurt Locker, and even District 9 can be nominated for Best Picture, one for Alice in Wonderland isn't that big of a stretch. Hopefully, with Up's Best Picture nomination, Toy Story 3 will get one too.

There's a HUGE difference between those movies and Alice, and that is that they got excellent to glowing reviews from the media and appeared in many top ten lists.

Alice, however, was panned by some critics as well as the fans by being too derivative of fantasy epics like Narnia and its reliance on visuals rather than a great story. The only movie that counts as an example is Avatar, and even then the movie receives much better praise, snarky internet reviewers be damned, and actually accomplished what it set out to do: create a stunning digital world in 3D.

I'll be STUNNED if Alice gets a best picture nomination...

Wasn't too impressed with Alice In Wonderland, by maybe I just expected too much? Tim Burton, a director I really like, and Lewis Carroll's story would have seemed to be a perfect fit, but it all just fell a little flat for me. I don't really know what I expected, perhaps certainly some amazing visuals, which the film didn't really have. It all seemed a little half hearted, and closer to something like Narnia [not at all a bad thing, as I love Narnia, but Alice in Wonderland should be very different!].

Yeah, I don't see it getting a Best Picture nomination. I will probably get nominated for best makeup, visual effects, art direction and costume design, like Tim Burton's films usually do. Maybe original score or sound editing as well.

"She got one thing that I was dying for, but the one thing that really killed me -- the only time I've ever been truly devastated by losing an audition ... was Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland."

Never knew JLaw was interested in this role. I'm glad she didn't get it though. This film introduced me to Mia and I'm so used to seeing her in period films that even though I don't consider her a really great actress, I do like seeing her in these roles.

Jennifer Lawrence might have been better because yeah, Mia Wasikowska is not a very good actress, and Jennifer is a very, very good one, but sometimes people just are more right in roles and maybe Mia was.

Wow, I never would've guessed Jennifer Lawrence would even consider Alice. Just off the bat I'd say she does not seem like an Alice at all, but this adaptation went such a different direction from most AiW films with the prophecy and slaying the Jabberwocky that I could see why she might have been up for consideration. No doubt she'd have been better than Wasikowska all around, but particularly in the action scenes.

This is my favorite of all live action Disney redos. Wonderland looks amazing like Tim Burton just let his imagination run wild. All the lead roles are filled by good actors. Mia Wasikowska,was a great discovery.

It features the final role of Michael Gough.

Avril Lavigne who has a great voice recored a good song for the moviee.

It's has good actors doing intersting acting choice like crsipin Glover being even weider than usual and Anne Hathaway doing don't even know what. But it's unlike any of her privous roles.

Alan Rickman is great like he usually is.

and Stephen Fry seems to have the time of his life doing the voice of Chessur. must have been one of the most fun experiences his carrer.
