The Blu-ray was great, but the two-disc DVD release left pretty much everyone unsatisfied particularly when compared to the PE. I assume that's what the poster refers to.

And Ferngully's Sequel wasn't attatched the it's family fun edition 2 disc release....but maybe that's for the better perhaps...UmbrellaFish wrote:Another excellent example!ajmrowland wrote:^Yeah, the 2-disc Anastasia release included Bartok in the bonus features.
But then again, this is common sense so Disney will never go through with it.
Ah yes. Well... nobody has any business buying the 2 Disc DVD release anyways.SpringHeelJack wrote:The Blu-ray was great, but the two-disc DVD release left pretty much everyone unsatisfied particularly when compared to the PE. I assume that's what the poster refers to.
You're welcome!Disneydood wrote:Thanks Escapay!
I'm holding on to my old edition because the "Tale as Old as Time" documentary won't be carried over, since it's being replaced by "Beyond Beauty". Plus, it's got the virtual galleries with docent audio, which won't be on DVD, and will likely be altered on the Blu-Ray.Disneydood wrote:Still deciding if I should stick with my 2002 Platinum ed. or upgrade. Idk.
So it's fine if they don't buy the Blu-Ray, but they shouldn't buy the DVD either.Swillie! wrote:Ah yes. Well... nobody has any business buying the 2 Disc DVD release anyways.

If you want to choose not to upgrade to Blu, that's fine; it's your choice.
I think people who got the regular 2-disc DVD were dissatisfied as, like you said, the Diamond Bluray was chock full of extras but the DVD was pretty barren (and many preferred the '01 platinum in comparison). I didn't really care since the film itself was remastered from the 2001 transfer. I'm assuming they're doing that for the upcoming BatB release, but who can know until we actually see it?SWillie! wrote:Who was dissatisfied?? Technically, that's not what he said, and it's taken out of context.Escapay wrote:You're welcome!Disneydood wrote:Thanks Escapay!

I guess I'll buy the laserdisc then!
Oh, wait...

I know he was kidding about "nobody should buy the 2-disc DVD", since it was such a crappy set. But at the same time, it unintentionally feeds into the "Go Blu, Abandon DVD!" mentality that many Blu-hards love to proclaim, hence my sarcastic "So it's okay to decide to not go Blu, but I shouldn't buy DVD either? Maybe I'll just get the laserdisc!" comment.BK wrote:Technically, that's not what he said, and it's taken out of context.
That's just a subtitle track, just like many other musicals have.BK wrote:another peter pan? sing along and extended sing along? sheesh.
I'm so happy that we can choose which verizon of the movie we want to watch. I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to watch the version that I grew up with and have on VHS. Thank you so much for posting this.Coolmanio wrote: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST [Additional material] (261m 32s)

Don't get me started on how dissatisfied I was with that stupid crap. A-My family can't afford Blu-Ray and at this rate, it'll be a long time until we will. B-My parents had to waste their money twice on that mess because my autistic sister didn't understand that the Blu-Ray wouldn't work so my mom had to pay over $40 for a Blu-Ray combo pack that has two BRs sitting somewhere and then she shelled out another $15 for that dumb DVD set (well, it was a check for my sister's Christmas gift, but still) that had NOTHING ON IT. I wouldn't have been that angry if all of our PEs still work, but most of them got scratched up because my sister doesn't understand hwo to put them back in the case and ugh. The only ones we'll be able to save are the second disc of BatB and I think our two Pinocchio sets are still okay.SWillie! wrote:Who was dissatisfied?? Color-wise, you might not [get the same version]wrestling_stat wrote:I'm so happy that we can choose which verizon of the movie we want to watch. I was worried that I wasn't going to be able to watch the version that I grew up with and have on VHS. Thank you so much for posting this.
You got ripped-off. I only paid $10 for my combo pack.DisneyPrincessSyndrome wrote: B-My parents had to waste their money twice on that mess because my autistic sister didn't understand that the Blu-Ray wouldn't work so my mom had to pay over $40 for a Blu-Ray combo pack that has two BRs sitting somewhere and then she shelled out another $15 for that dumb DVD set (well, it was a check for my sister's Christmas gift, but still) that had NOTHING ON IT.
Well firstly... if you paid $40 you got MASSIVELY ripped off as it was VERY easy to pick up for less than $10 for the first week or two. Then you paid $15 for the DVD... You could have almost purchased a Blu-ray player with that amount... Wal-mart has them for $78.DisneyPrincessSyndrome wrote:Don't get me started on how dissatisfied I was with that stupid crap. So, we will not be converting and I will be the one continuing to rant about it while my family stares at me weirdly.
But, I'm going to try and be excited about BatB this year, though I can't stand that DVD cover. It's revolting. I miss the VHS days so much right now.
Well, I'm very sorry. But it's your own fault. Disney practically BEGGED us to save a ton of money on that release, with a RIDICULOUS amount of coupons, sales, promotions, etc. I bought the Snow White Combo Pack (with the 2 blus and the DVD) for somewhere between $10-15. Spending $40 is just silly, and it's no wonder you're upset.DisneyPrincessSyndrome wrote:Don't get me started on how dissatisfied I was with that stupid crap.
