Wow! The new site is amazing, it only makes me anticipate this release even more, only 35 days though, or 5 weeks!

This is a VERY long process, well it is for me anyway. First of all I take screencaps on Cyberlink Power DVD, by holding down 'C', and considering there are 24 frames per second, you have to take A LOT of snap shots.
Then I open up each Screencap in 'Paint'. Copy it using the marquee tool or however you spell it, and paste it into Adobe Photoshop, resize it, with at least one side reaching 100 pixels or less and save it as a .gif file.
Then you drag all the Gifs (I usually end up with about 50-120) into Gif Movie Gear 2.6 and adjust timing and repeat acordingly.
That is the easiest way I can explain it sorry

It takes a very long time!

Don't forget to watch the trailer. It's a NEW TRAILER on the site now. ALL of the clips in the trailer are RESTORED! So you can see what the restoration now looks like! Overall, I like it! Some outlines look way thinner than they should, like where Ursula is smooching, but it only looks bad there...and maybe her shell neclace is too yellow there, too, but that's it. I was worried for the restoration, but it's beautiful. It looks a little unnaturally bright in some scenes, but that's not the worst that could happen*coughCinderella'srestorationcough*. THE LITTLE MERMAID, ONE OF MY FAVORITE FILMS, HAS A RESTORATION THAT LOOKS LIKE IT DOESN'T HAVE THE WRONG COLORS AND TOO THIN OUTLINES! YAY!!!!
THANK YOU!

Here is a better link on how to create an animated GIF.

To take screencaps you need Cyberlink Power DVD, I think you can get a 30-day trial somewhere.
Back onto the DVD's website...where are all these videos everyone is talking about? I clicked on Videos and Clips, but the only thing I could find was the old trailer

So you clicked on "Trailer & Clips" on the gold banner at the top? It should open to a page with Ursula's lair in the background, and next to Ursula is a window with clam shells at the top. A movie should play automatically for you in the window. You're right, only the trailer is available for now(the clips and other videos are coming soon), but it is NOT the
OLD TRAILER. It is, in fact, a
NEW TRAILER. How is it new? If you look carefully, you will see that all the scenes in the trailer are RESTORED. Also, it has a side-by-side comparison of the "Before" and "Restored" footage. That wasn't in the old trailer at all before. So enjoy seeing a little bit of the restored

LOOK I MADE IT!! I got the 20-day trial thing and I actually did it, it's actually simple once you get the hang of it. Thanks Joshthesim26.
Anyways yeah the trailer looks great although I did notice a color change in Ariel's tail...I compared the limited issue i have to that same scene in the trailer and theres actually a noticable difference, in the limited issue its kinda like..teal/green-blue? and in the trailer its like a pure green maybe Im crazy lol...It doesnt matter though because the new restored one looks amazing.
the moving avatar I wanted to make!..too bad I cant have an avatar yet!

Thanks Disney Duster! I saw the addition to the trailer, it looks exaggerated, but even still, the picture looks perfect!

Wow! That is one noticable change!

To the positive though! My jaw litterally dropped when I saw the trailer with the restored picture. I an so happy with the results -- or well, with what I've seen so far.
The site's looking lovely. Don't really see the point in updating with all these features if every other of them just say "coming soon" each time you mouse over them. But well, that's the weird Disney people's decision. Can't wait to see the clips and videos that will be added shortly.

That was the trailer I saw twice at The Disney Store.

I wish the site had it in high-res Quicktime, though. The flash quality doesn't do the restoration justice like the TV screens at The Disney Store did.

I just compared the trailer to th old one on disneys video site... and I have to say I dont see much of a diffience... I dont think this is the restored footage... I just think they added the restoration info... And then we think it looks restored because we want to see the restored footage so badly...

It's true that you can't really tell with the crappy Flash quality the site's got, but I promise you if you see it on a TV screen at The Disney Store, the difference is astounding.

First, I'm EXTREMELY happy that Disney updated TLM's site. It really needed to get going considering we have almost exactly ONE MONTH LEFT!!!!!
But, has anyone downloaded the screensaver yet, and found that the "screencaps" are more or less like clip art? I mean, the lines around the characters are VERY thin, and broken... it's starting to make me wonder how fabulous the restoration willl be on TLM...I'm hoping it will be fabulous like all the other PE's!
Anyway, like many others on this board, I'm counting down the days!!

There's gonna be a cover of 'Poor Unfortunate Souls'.....by the Jonas Brothers - that should be interesting! Wish I could download!
Also, there's to be an added verse to 'poor unfortunate souls'.
Can someone tell me when the soundtrack comes out? And get these two songs for me? I will gladly repay somehow (just not moneywise).

Has anyone noticed on the site how the logo now says "Platinum Edition" rather than "Special Edition"?

Magicalwands, it was part of Disney's Platinum Edition line all this time. Disney just put the "2-Disc Special Edition" banner on the art they issue out to the stores to draw attention and get more people to buy it.

Yea, and according to the dvd highlights section on the site the extra verse will reveal why Ursula was banished from the palace. Can't wait to hear it!
