House of Wax (nope not the classic)

It was okay but I lost interest halfway through but the climax was a lot of fun.
I know now for sure Paris Hilton can't act.
Oh and what was up with Nick and Dalton? I'm guessing they were more than merely friends or is it just me who got those little hints?

Watched The Kids Are Alright - the semi-autobiographical film about The Who. Lots of great music and great interviews with all four members of the band and some special guests. There is a bunch of Easter Eggs hidden in this two-disc set.

I watched a couple of movies today, the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Candyman.

Bot are good movies and my only complaint is that I only got two movies in when I was planning on atleast 5 today.

I watched Ghostbusters II. Not as funny as the first but it's still a good movie with plenty of laughs.

Quite a few, but not in order:

- Simpsons: I've seen almost all seasons.

-Land of the Dead : Very good.

- Nightmare on Elm St. 6: wasn't paying too much attention to it

- Nightmare on Elm St. 4: same as above

Managed to catch a few films over the weekend.

On Friday night I watched the review DVD of The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse, the big screen adventure based on The League of Gentlemen TV series. Completely post-modern and darkly surreal, it actually gets better upon repeat viewings (going for a third this weekend).

Saturday night I watched the notorious Wolf Creek, a new Australian horror/slasher film based loosely on some real-life backpacker murders. Although it has a reputation for being sick and violent, it is actually quite dull compared to similar genre films.

I saw an excellent little film on Sunday called Me and You and Everyone We Know. Directed by Miranda July, IMDB got it right when they described it as "poetic and penetrating observation of how people struggle to connect with one another in an isolating and contemporary world." For anyone who has seen it, I leave you with this message:

I am now attempting to review Superman III.

Ghostbusters: Amazing how this movie has stand the test of time. I mean, is as funny and entertaining as the first time. Plus the special effects, although dated they still look cool.

Sadly I have the single versions of each of these movies. I mean, I know the Gift Set looses some stuff but I'm no fan of the movie (as I was as a kid) and would have like better them packed this way.

Sadly my normal Halloween movie marathon had to be abbreviated due to work but I did get two movies in...

Halloween is so cool. I just wacthed it once a couple of years ago. I didn't think the movie was going to be that good since, for example A Nightmare On Elm St. it is really so so for me, but this one was actually very exciting. One of the the few that stand the pass of time.

Star Wars The Phantom Menace

Star Wars Attack of the Clones

Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, which I got at 12:05 a.m. this morning at Wally World with the bonus disc, which by the way is really good.

Gonna go get some sleep and then will watch chapter IV, V, and VI.

House of Wax (2005) - It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. They could have done without Paris Hilton (except for that one scene).

Bewitched (2005) - Ok movie.

I have made through 5 more Hitchcock movies, leaving me with three more titles this week (including Vertigo). I would have made through the entire Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection of 14 movies.

Torn Curtain (5) - This one never grabbed me unlike all the other movies on the collection. Hitch was right that the script needed a good dialogue revision to avoid the slowness of the beginning. However, because of Julie Andrews scheule, Hitch was forced to start eariler. As much as Newman and Andrews are good actors, neither performer did well in this movie.

Sabatuer (eight) - Hitchcock was so good that he could make credible variations of the 39 Steps in his sleep. (The 39 Steps is about an innocent man running from the police and evil spies while solving the MacGuffin and finding romance with a blond. Include North By Northwest & Foreign Correspondent here as well.) Not perfect, it is impossilbe to swept up in the espoinage intrigue, the evil baddies, and the romance.

The Birds (eight) - Hitchcock's closest to pure horror as the birds wreck havoc on a small coastol Northern California town. A little slow in the beginning but the payoff of the bird attacks are awesome. Love the birds POV shot of the buring town.

Marnie (eight) - Hitchcock's failed masterpiece. About ten years ago, I loved the first time I saw it and did not the second time. So it is incredibly interesting film with a great performance by Sean Connery, that needs to be watched every ten years so you don't concentrate on the weaknesses, like the numerous process shots, simplistic Freudian approach, etc.

Shadow Of A Doubt (9) - One of the best of evil in small town with a great performance by Joseph Cotten. Hitchcock's first American masterpiece, as seemingly small film, creates great suspense between the young and old Charlie. (A great introduction to Hitchcock even though Notorious or North By Northwest are probably better.)

Episode 3: of course.... GREAT, GREAT movie... although of course... it leaves you feeling a little moody.

In between another viewing of "Star Wars III" we managed to squeeze in:

She Wore A Yellow Ribbon with John Wayne, John Agar, and Ben Johnson. Very good western.

Now it is back to the "Star Wars" Saga, beginning with Chapter IV.

Bewitched- I don't think this was one of Nicole Kidman's "best" movies. As much as I'm a huge fan of hers, I think she played the part great, but the movie was...rushed in the end! Even the deleted scenes weren't that great. But I was laughing! Will and Nicole had good chemistry in this movie and he played the part well! The movie was fine in the beginning, dragged in the middle, and rushed in the end. I didn't like the ending, even though it was very similar to the TV Show. Speaking of which, I had never seen Bewitched (TV SHOW) until that extra disc came with the movie. Oh wow, Elizabeth Montgomery is charming!

I'm going to go try to watch the show if I can by getting those box sets (wonder what's better..B/W or Color. They did a good job on the colorization), I even played the trivia quiz on the bonus features--sounds interesting!

I don't think anyone could've played "Samantha/Isabel" better than Nicole Kidman!

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Like you Evil Genie Jafar, I've always found this one a little so-so. I liked it but I have always thought I could even do a better job since nightmares and dreams fascinate me so much. I still like the Freddy series a little more than the Jason series though.

I'm glad you enjoyed the original show.
If you are going to buy the season sets of the first two seasons buy the B/W versions, Sony screwed up on some of the colors.
