According to Dutch magazine 'HP/De Tijd', Rapunzel is still no.1 in the dvd sales top 10, in its second week.

Boy, Disney is definitely confused about Rapunzel. They wanted to avoid connecting the movie to the Princess franchise, but many of the Tangled toys came with the Princess logo on it. Then there was clipart of Rapunzel alongside the other princesses. Now that the movie has been far more successful than PATF they have yet to officially induct Rapunzel, a BORN INTO ROYALTY princess.

Tangled Short In Works!!
In a recent interview, Nathan Greno revealed that he and Byron Howard, both of whom co-directed Tangled, are working on a new short set in the Tangled world.
The Tangled short will be finished by the end of the year, though a release date has yet to be released.

"This is kind of new information that we haven’t really told the press yet, but the studio has asked us to do a Tangled short. Based on the success of the film, they want to see more of the characters - We have come up with a story for a short that we believe is great and really funny,” he added. “Again, it’s kind of a big action short. It’s all the stuff you loved from the movie kind of packed into this little five- or six-minute short. It’s going to be a good time. Maximus, Pascal and everybody, they are all back.”

^ Like I mentioned before, I want her playing in the snow! Or maybe ice-skating. I don't know if I want to see her 'grown-up' with a child, part of her character is that she is so innocent and naive, I really don't want to see her as an adult. And yes, I would love to see her in a new dress, that pink one is not a favourite dress of mine.

That makes me wonder if Rapunzel’s children would end up having magic hair like she did? Probably not, but that’s something I hadn’t thought of ‘til just now.

Still, I wouldn’t want to see a baby, if for no other reason than babyRapunzel looked freaky and I don’t want to see the 2.0 version.

The snow idea sounds nice though.

I think one of the picture books says something akin to Rapunzel's last drop of magic from the flower is in the tear. Obviously, that's just a kid's book, but I'd assume something similar.

Not sure if Rapunzel with short hair could still have the "flower power" (

). In one way, the drop of her tears could still be a trace of its magic, which could come in handy if say, Flynn fell ill or was injured again. (He could probably stomach some teardrop soup.) Paradoxically, it could make her a pawn for any other schemers out there, which would mean that, uh-oh, Mama Gothel was right all along!

That would ruin her the same way they ruined Ariel in that godawful sequel.

I know I'm extremely late in the game (I need to put myself up to watching Disney movies in the theater like I used to as a kid

) but I bought the Blu-ray yesterday, and watched the movie today, and I absolutely loved it.
It had a lot of heart, was very funny, had drama, great songs, in short: everything a Disney movie has to be. The characters were amazing, I thought. Since the story is ultimately predictable, it's the job of the characters to make the movie seem fun and new, and everyone did exactly that. I thought that both Rapunzel and Flynn (or Eugene) had a lot of character, with both having emotional moments without it feeling forced, and comedic moments without it feeling out of place. Also important, the animal sidekicks weren't annoying at all. Donna Murphy made sure her Mother Gothel was certainly evil, but without being too melodramatic, or mustache twirling as we've seen too many times before. She even seems to care for Rapunzel, which I think says more than Frollo's relationship with Quasimodo.
Alan Menken's songs were great, but I thought that Many Moore's singing was a bit too mediocre, the rest was fine. But Menken's score was the big highlight for me. He already showed that he could handle heavy material with movies like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but this music was written so good, that I wondered sometimes if it was even him.
Anyone who complained that this movie is in CG really has the wrong idea. You shouldn't judge on whether it should be hand drawn or not. It's done in CG, and you should judge it from that. The movie looked amazing. I don't think audiences would have gotten the same emotional impact from, for example, the lantern scene, if those were drawn. Seeing it in CG makes it all the more impressive, so you understand why Rapunzel is drawn to the happening, and wants to see them.
It's funny, every time I feel John Lasseter is doing too much interfering with the projects in development at Disney or Pixar, the movie that is released is absolutely amazing. And even though the production was long and very troubling, the movie itself doesn't feel rushed or half assed in any way.
The only negative part I can mention is the fact that the supplements on the Blu-ray are complete filler. I can understand that Disney doesn't feel the need to rehash the tumultuous making of the movie in detail, but showing us which movies Disney has made? Really? And not even an audio commentary? The people who bought the DVD need not complain, because they're not missing out on anything.
