Really now? So when Snow White became the biggest box office success ever until that time it didn't captivate mature audiences? Right. None of the Disney films before The Little Mermaid did. Sure. They all only delighted younger viewers. Yea, okay.

Oh, Disney and the popular common mentality of people today...
Maybe I read something different, but I didn't see anything about the Disney renaissance being the first films to capture the interest of adults in there. What I read seemed to be saying they were the first films to recapture the adult audience in many years.

Maybe they're putting bonus SMAS episodes on all three B&TB films!

Ah, I'm disappointed that they're rereleasing sequels. That's just as bad as making new ones because you still keep the titles in the eye of the public.

It's uncertain at the moment. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just DVD though...

If anyone could recap, is there a list of which new features will be on the Blu ray but NOT on the DVD, and which of the 2002 Platinum Edition features will not/ be carried over? Sorry if this has already been stated in an older post, there just seems to be nothing touching on this specifically.

Take a look at Disney Store (inside Additional Information):

DVD:

Beauty and the Beast Diamond Edition 2-Disc DVD</a><img src="http://www.ftjcfx.com/image-1190473-10676026" width="1" height="1" border="0"/>

Blu-Ray:

It says: "Classic DVD bonus features", but we still don't know which ones will be there too.

I agree, altough there are a few titles: lion king 2 for instance I would like to own in blue.. (ashamed for bringing this up now...)

To be honest, in the case of sequels, I wouldn't mind them if they were included as bonus features to Blu-Ray sets (see WOZ and GWTW which both included an additional TV movie as a bonus feature), because it wouldn't draw half as much attention to the title as a separate release does.

Another excellent example!

But then again, this is common sense so Disney will never go through with it.

Disneydood wrote:If anyone could recap, is there a list of which new features will be on the Blu ray but NOT on the DVD
The new features that will be on both the Blu-Ray and DVD are the "Beyond Beauty" documentary, "Broadway Beginnings", "Composing a Classic", "Belle in the Library" deleted scene, "Alternate Prologue", and original song demos, as they're listed for both the Blu-Ray special features and the DVD special features (on DisneyStore.com and BarnesandNoble.com, though I'm sure other sites have updated their information as well).

These are Blu-Ray exclusive:

-Storyboard Version - the theatrical version of the film with PIP option of the storyboards.

-Disney Quest: Enchanted Challenge - help Belle and the Beast fall in love in order to break the spell before the last petal falls.

-Bon Jour, Who Is This? A Disney TelePlay Game - Powered by BD-Live. Using your cell phone, guess the identity of the other players before they guess yours.

-Beyond Beauty Experience - interactive version of the "Beyond Beauty" documentary. Additional contents that makes it "interactive" is TBA, but it is known that the art galleries are exclusive to this, and thus, not on the new DVD.

These will likely be carried over, as it was either re-submitted to the BBFC, or had its intro re-submitted (and if the intro was re-submitted, then the actual feature is sure to be included)...

-Early Presentation Reel (2:45) - re-submitted to BBFC

--"Human Again" (6:55)

-Animation Tests, Roughs, & Clean-Up (4:51)
--Introduction by Don Hahn (0:30) - re-submitted to BBFC
--Animation Tests, Roughs, & Clean-Up (4:21) - not yet passed by BBFC

-Pencil Version: "The Transformation" (5:22)
--Introduction (1:02) - re-submitted to BBFC
--"The Transformation" (4:20) - not yet passed by BBFC

-Camera Move Test (2:05)
--Introduction (0:38 ) - re-submitted to BBFC

-A Transformation: Glen Keane (3:14) - re-submitted to BBFC

-Alternate Score: "Death of the Beast" (1:56) - re-submitted to BBFC
--Introduction (0:22)
--"Death of the Beast" (1:34)

-Trailers and TV Spots (9:07)
--Introduction (0:32) - re-submitted to BBFC

--Introduction (0:22) - re-submitted to BBFC
--"Beauty and the Beast" - Celine Dion & Peabo Bryson (4:03) - not yet passed by BBFC

-The Story Behind The Story - 2002 documentary. (25:37) - re-submitted to BBFC

--The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Angela Lansbury (2:32)
--Conclusion: Celine Dion (2:18 )

-Chip's Musical Challenge: Set-Top Game - re-submitted to BBFC

So essentially, what's not being carried over from the 2002 DVD is the "Tale as Old as Time" documentary (or its 25-minute "family" version), "Disney's Animation Magic", the Jump 5 music video, and the other games (Maurice's Invention Workshop, Break the Spell).
ajmrowland wrote:^Yeah, the 2-disc Anastasia release included Bartok in the bonus features.
The same production team worked on Bartok and so it was considered an essential addition for Anastasia's supplements.

Conversely, The Secret of NIMH 2 was not by Don Bluth, which is why it was excluded from its Family Fun Edition in 2007.

Regarding Enchanted Christmas and Belle's Magical World, I'd rather they get their own releases and not be included in the Beauty and the Beast release. They haven't really bundled Movie+Sequel together unless it was an after-the-initial-release bundle set a couple years later (Mulan and Mulan II for example), and I can't see them doing it with their precious "Diamond Edition" releases. After all, they didn't bundle the sequels with the Platinums, those got separate releases too.

Thanks Escapay! Still deciding if I should stick with my 2002 Platinum ed. or upgrade. Idk. The picture quality is infamous for the bad compression job, but so many people were dissatisfied with the new Snow White DVD release debacle of 2009 so it will require some thought...

Who was dissatisfied?? The Diamond Edition of Snow White was a fantastic release!
