Why does the whole sequence look so dark? I know it's supposed to look realistic but couldn't they cheat a bit with more warm blues instead of all those grays? The cinematography in the movie in general leaves a lot to be desired.

Not really an excuse for it, but I did read that almost all of the scenic shots for a whole new world are real. They’re not CGI. So I get having a realistic look, but yeah I agree. It’s so drab and gloomy and it literally doesn’t match the description of the song at all rotfl

Hey guys...when you're spoiling, please spoiler tag all of what you're saying. I could tell what's up with the movie form just what you guys said that wasn't in spoiler tags.

Anyway, what Disney did with Jafar is dumb. Dumb. Dumb. The snake is like the best part.

And the whole reason his staff is a snake. Why keep the snake staff and not have him turn into one?! If you’re gonna get rid of turning him into a snake, change the staff to not be one.

One could argue that the snake staff and the overall snake motif is an indication of his sinister character and nefarious plans which still apply. I agree with you though. It's a real shame the foreshadowing of him transforming to literal snake as well as the epic snake battle was lost.

Not to mention that merchandise featuring him heavily features the snake motif. But that won't even be present for the climax. At least we can count on his transformation as a genie.

I liked that scene too. Plus we got to see Iago in action.

Yeah, the animation takes advantage of a blue palette but the scenery is gorgeous nevertheless. Maybe the rest of the song will be more lit up since this was just a small portion. As for the singing, I'm so impressed with the German singers and that just makes me want to hear the English version even more!

I just watched the "A Whole New World" sequence in German. It looks super beautiful. :D I imagine it would look even better on a giant IMAX screen. :D

I must say, I, too, think "A Whole New World" looks beautiful, and thrilling!

Thank you now everyone who's using the spoiler tags more thoughtfully!

Just found out that Marisha Wallace (who played the fortune teller and one of Jasmine's attendants in the original Broadway cast) is in the movie and does the "still I think he's rather tasty" line in One Jump just like she did on stage. Since I love the stage show that's made me really happy today!

I had thought of that part being where the new reprise could be. I hope it's after Jafar has sent him away though, after his identity has been revealed to Jasmine; I can imagine the scene being one where he accepts what he is instead of being ashamed / lying.

That's awesome. I happen to know her from being in an online fantasy league with her, and it's always a pleasant surprise to see her show up in big Broadway stuff, she's legit!

Three new TV spots. The second one showcases Jafar and shows a glimpse of him as the Evil Genie.

Loved the TV Spots. Giant Iago and genie Jafar both look so cool. I really can't wait to see it. :)

I'm guessing the soundtrack will come sometime next week.

EDIT: According to Amazon, it will come out on May 24. And iTunes says May 22.

The ending of the first video shows Jasmine and Dalia dancing at her wedding which is neat. I wonder if we'll get a full-fledged musical sequence for that, even if it's not necessarily a song.

At least Jafar as a Genie looks super impressive.

I liked the featurette as well.

Very short clip with Genie and Aladdin as Prince Ali, and new interview with Mena Massoud. I also found what looks like a snippet from "One Jump Ahead", but I'm not sure if it's really from the movie or not.

 I don't know what's happening with this soundtrack. According to the press release, the digital album will be released on May 21 at 9:00pm PT (in the US, I guess) and the physical one on May 24. But, you're right, some sites are saying the digital version will come out on May 22 instead of on the 21, so I don't know which one's right.

They don’t have a pattern for these releases. I remember for Beauty and the Beast, it came one week before the actual release in theaters, same thing for Moana. Mary Poppins’ was released 2 weeks before, and I think the same happened with Into the Woods, but I’m not sure. But at least, we now know the actual date(s).

This funko pop of Jasmine (in the bright purple and pink outfit) is labeled Desert Moon. It could just be a coincidence but I wonder if the deleted song was originally planned for this scene.

As Jasmine awaits her meeting with Prince Ali (Aladdin in disguise) in the palace courtyard, she wears a vibrant magenta and coral gown.
“[Ali] has promised to meet her secretly and ends up not turning up, so she gets stood up,” Wilkinson says. “I knew I had to create something very special for this moment.”
