I can understand why they slimmed down Flynn–bear!Flynn doesn't strike me as a thief, but more of a gentle, good guy. (Of course, the subversion would have been awesome.) He and Rapunzel look awfully cute together, though–their size difference is downright cute. Bastion's design is kind of awesome, although I can't really see him screwing up like Flynn does. (Also, I'm sure just looking at all his oddments gave his animators a headache.)

I really love the concept art where Gothel looks very similar to Rapunzel; perhaps it's because her hair isn't colored in, but it looks great. And Rapunzel's Empire-waisted dresses are so pretty, as well as an interesting new silhouette for a Disney princess. Thank you so much for posting these!

They DO look cute! But I understand why he had to change--like you say, he looks too nice, and there's a caption in the book that says something like he was a "big hearted" guy (I'll have to go find it & properly quote it later). A guy like that wouldn't be a proper foil for the already super-sweet Rapunzel.....which opens up some interesting what-ifs, like what if Rapunzel was a crafty kind of girl who was just using the big lug, kind of like Herc & Megara at first. I like things the way they are now XD

And I agree, Bastion looked super cool! And complicated

Bastion version of Flynn reminds me of an animated Jack Sparrow in my opinion?

taoayumu, I saw the post on hellyeahtangled about the graphic novel--I was also told by Disney Guest Services to try calling a mail-orders number. I'm gonna give it a shot tomorrow, so if it works I'll let you know! Well, everyone, really

"bastion" reminded me of jim from treasure planet. and teddy bear flynn reminds me of pacha.

[im kinda glad they changed his name, though bastion is cool. i can see it being misheard by people who look for evil everywhere.]

Okay, so I'm hearing Tangled's budget is something like $80 million. Is this true?

No way... I haven't heard otherwise either way, but there's just no way they made this movie for that little. With all the story changes, technology advancements, and just the fact that it's been in production for however many years it is now.

Although it would be wonderful if $80 million was really true. They'll make that back no problem at all.

But we're not talking about the cost from previous incarnations and from all those years in development but from the moment Greno and Howard were appointed as directors and re-worked the film from scratch. It took them about 2 1/2 years to finish it.

They should do some kind of cross-promotion with the Flynns. :D This couldn't have been coincidental...

I'm actually glad that they went with the 'hot' flynn idea. Big bear flynn just .. doesn't fit in the movie..

It seems we were right. They changed the lyrics to fit the story of Rapunzel.

I apologise if this was posted, but I just found this video via Laughing Place. It's of Rapunzel and Flynn's grand entry at Disneyland Paris from last Saturday (6th November), during a press event and the European premiere of Tangled (which was held at Disneyland Paris). It's very romantic. :)

I wrote down the lyrics of the new 'something that i want' version :)
Please correct me if i got anything wrong!

She’s a girl with the best intentions
He’ a man of his own invention
She looked out the window, he walked out the door
And she followed him, and he said: ‘Whatcha looking for?’

She said: ‘I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see, something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see.’

She’s been living in a pure illusion
He’s gonna come to his own conclusion
Right when you think you know what you say
Someone comes along and shows you a brand new way

He said: ‘I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see, something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything.’

Cuz it’s so easy to make-believe
Seems you’re living in a dream
Don’t you see that what you need is
Standing in front of you, oh

I want something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see, something that I want
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
I need everything I see
