Yes, but now it's a peel off sticker and not printed right on the cover.

Well, I finally got Pinocchio on Blu-ray today, and I gotta say.............

I FREAKIN' LOVED IT!!!!! :D

The restoration looks absolutely marvelous! I watched with the Disney view option thingy, and the artwork on the sides didn't bother me one bit. :)

Honestly, I thought I'd go ballistic if I didn't get the movie sooner. I was lucky to get to go to Target with my family after my last class for today. I can't even believe that there was one copy left there. I guess the blu-ray must be worth every last cent. XD

My Blu-ray insert includes the standard DMR slip and a booklet of ads(but no coupons) for Sharp, Handy Manny, BD-live, Disney Parks, Bolt and D23.

Ok, so...I asked a question...and the answer kinda got side-tracked.

To all americans: in your STANDARD dvd, did you get a booklet with the descriptions of the dvd content, or a fold-out paper?

Being the fanboy geek that I am, I have another few questions. I bought some Canadian Region 1 DVDs a few years back (Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins, Brother Bear) and there was a "version franciase incluse" logo. Also, the promo booklet for one of them had both the original English chat and a French translation. Do they still do that?
The logo is now a sticker on the Slipcover. Some releases have bi-lingual promo booklets. My copy of Pinocchio didn't, but my copy of Wall-E did. I don't know why they all don't, but that's just the way it is.

Yes. There is a DVD Guide with chapter selections as well as a breakdown of what is on Disc's 1 and 2.

So the reviewer of the whole thing mentioned something about Jiminy's reassuring "Right!" to Pinocchio's utterance of his name during the song "Give a Little Whistle" has vanished. Does anyone who have the DVD catch that?

Anyone here get their Jiminy Cricket plushie with their "Pinocchio" at Wal-Mart? I haven't seen discussion about it, and was hoping that I wasn't the only one.

Sounds like we have a lot of nit-pickers here again regarding the release of another Disney Animated Classic.

Just watch the movie, and enjoy and be happy that you own a copy of one of the most-loved Disney animated feature films.

:D

The Jiminy Cricket plush was the main reason I got my copy at Wal-Mart. Its a nice plush, and I think it goes well with the others that I have got with previous Platinum Editions at Best Buy.

watching this again for the 2nd time in my life, im surprised at how much they got away with in this film. You will never see kids smoking, drinking or anything like that in todays animated movies. Even saying jack ass in reference to a donkey wouldnt work.

...The bad guys never get theirs...not one of them!
Yes, I think the boys turns into donkeys because they have behaved badly. They have ran away from home and didn't go to school, they went along with strangers, they smoked and drank and wrecked the place; all things good boys don't do. And they got punished by being turned into donkeys. The moralistic tone is very obvious, but I don't care, since it's the best scene in the movie.

The bad guys never get theirs... But besides Gepetto, Jiminy and Pinocchio, the film only has bad guys. There are no good or even neutral characters besides them. From all places, bad guys turn up to take advantage of the innocence of Pinocchio. It's a very dark movie, if you think about it.

I haven't read the new review, but there definitly *is* a reassuring "right!" in the song. I can't think of any reason why they would omit it. So maybe the reviewer wasn't paying attention? I own the DVD.

I think they would get away with it nowadays, because it puts smoking and drinking in a bad perspective. Just like the alcohol Dawson drinks in The Great Mouse Detectives (1986) makes him unable to function normal. It send the message to kids it's better not to smoke or drink. So I think it would be acceptable.

If you're talking about the puppet show scene, all men have sexual interests, and I guess that means crickets do too.

What about the line he said afterwards? "What does an actor want with a conscience, anyway?"

I own the DVD too, and sadly, the "right!" is missing on mine. I noticed it immediately on the first viewing with the 5.1 mix. So I actually backed up to rewatch that song in "original theatrical mono" and it was missing as well. Maybe the R1 disc has the error and the others don't ?

While I was at Wal-Mart today they had the movie running on their HD TVs. I really, really wanted to stay there and watch it all.

The movie has, in my honest opinion, some of the best staged scenes of all time. The first appearance of the Blue Fairy, Pinocchio's debut and capture by Stromboli, the terrifying transformation of Lampwick into a donkey and even the sad realization that Pinocchio died, but was reborn again as a real boy.

Animated movies are seldom made like this anymore.

On a somewhat related note the movie really helped me decide which HD TV is best for me! :P

Yeah, I hope you didn't decide based on "brightest" or "most colorful" because those are just there to get your attention.

Actually, I used this to ask around questions regarding TV quality, like if the colors are supposed to be like this and such.

Don't worry, I don't plan to blindly buy a TV without consulting it.

Good, 'cause the movie was only produced to have *one* look and not twenty, like most showrooms/consumers seem to believe.

Those were probably from the Blu Ray Pap, which apparently is the devil around here.
