Actually, Lasseter has no juristiction over Disney Consumer Products. So even if he wanted to kill the franchise he couldn't.

For those complaining about Maximus being too dog-like:
We had a dog which was replaced with the excellent character of the horse policeman.

I have to agree. The picture sotiris made is wonderful. I still am a "Tangled Virgin."

I have a question and I don't think this has been discussed here before? Are there any Tangled action toys? I've been looking for a while now in shops and I didn't find any...
Seems weird to me that they want to promote the movie for girls AND boys, but the only toys you can find, are the Barbie-dolls of Rapunzel and Flynn. I remember when I was young, there were action toys of every Disney movie and they were quite popular...

Good question. It's almost hypocritical of Disney to do so. But they may not have afford of it.

The nearest they've got so far is a 'Flynn's Sword' toy that makes clanging and clashing sounds....kinda funny, since Flynn never even uses a sword in the movie (he does in the videogame, though!)

Tangled has being doing outstanding for a month old film at the box office over Christmas break. Climbing back in the top 5 on Wednesday, doing over $3 million a day all week, bringing it's U.S. total up to $154 mill (passing Disney's $150 million goal) and it's worldwide gross is now $272 mill (passing it's overall longterm budget of $260 mill) and it hasn't even opened yet in major places like Australia.
Granted once kids go back to school on Monday, there will be a huge drop and the film will probably be gone from a lot of theaters in the next couple of weeks.

Several years back I asked one of my nieces (who was about 15 at the time) if she was going to see Treasure Planet in the theater, and she looked at me like I was an alien. It was a sad realization for me that she considered herself too old for Disney fare (it wasn't just Treasure Planet, but also the likes of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and other DAC's). I never really grew out of this stuff, lol. Much more recently, one of my younger nieces (who is about 15 herself now) was excitedly posting on FaceBook that she couldn't wait to see Tangled. I think that's a good sign.
The music is growing on me now, much like it had to for The Princess and the Frog. I'm so looking forward to buying the movie once it's out.

Yeah, haha! I laugh every time I swing at a guard in the game & it makes these cutesy, squeaky sounds so the kids know they aren't REALLY getting cut up or hurt.....

And I LOVE making Flynn & Rapunzel hold hands, so cute! Although it makes kind of a strange sound when you hit the 'hold hand' command....
Also, not sure if someone else saw him yet, but
I spotted Pinocchio while seeing Tangled for the fourth time earlier today! You can see him during the part of the pub song when Shorty, in his Cupid outfit, is swinging around; as he gets to the upper righthand corner of the screen, look above Flynn who's hanging on the wall. Pinocchio is tucked in a support beam near the ceiling.

I want the game so badly! Sucks that it's so expensive. How do you make them hold hands, and what sound does it make? I'm gonna do that all the time, rofl.

Hmmm, if you hate it so much, why don't you just ignore it. The Princess line is obviously not an 'epic fail' because they continue to pursue it, and many people are quite happy that they do so.
Of course, if we're talking about the epic fail of the Gargoyles line.

Yes, many (little-girls-under-the-age-of-5-who-probably-don't-understand-the-movies-these-princesses-originate) people LOVE the princess line.
The quiet minority that aren't in that age group and give a crap about Disney will agree though that it's an abomination

Went to see Tangled/Rapunzel today (advanced screening - opens in NZ on the 6th by Event Cinemas). Really enjoyed it and will likely go and see it again. Can't wait to buy the DVD.
The 3D was good, but I'm not too fussed on it. However, I was watching the preview for Rio (in 3D) and that trailer had the most effective use of 3D yet (from what I've seen). I wasn't planning on seeing anything else in 3D, but I will likely see Rio in 3D.
Well, I think Tangled is now my favourite animated film released in the last year.

It is pricey!! I only have it because Santa provided it
You hit right or left on the Wiimote's D-pad to make them hold hands, and it makes a squishing/squelching noise....which makes me laugh every time XD Which is often, because it's so adorable I make them hold hands constantly (it's also useful because as you control one character the other can wander off and fall off ledges & such, so dragging them along helps keep them where you want them)

i was actually talking about the PC game *doesn't have a wii* but i think those games are kind of the same. But as you describe it it sounds so cute! I hope someone will upload a clip of them doing that onto youtube soon

I just saw
Tangled today, and I loved it! I went with my mom, my ten-year-old sister and ten-year-old (male) cousin, and they enjoyed it as well.
I loved the soundtrack, and
I See The Light was a very lovely song.
I can't wait for the movie to come out on DVD so that I can buy it.

I doubt they will. They make lots of money off that line and of course, Rapunzel is a princess so she's screwed.
Mulan and Pocahontas shouldn't be listed though. -_-
