Have we? Honest question. What examples to we have that youtube has proven to be not generally be accurate as far as shifts in hue goes? I realize youtube introduces compression artifacts, but I cant think of any time youtube has noticeably changed the color of something after uploading. If colors are off its because the source video was like that as well in my experience. The fact that the trailer shots closely resemble the dvd release (just sharper) seems to support this. I don't remember what that river shot looked like in particular during the 3D version, but I I did notice many others, the purple Mufassa, the more yellow Simba toward the end of the movie, this kind of thing detracts from the look to me, and while I haven't seen the blu ray yet, those comparisons suggest similar shifts have been done for the 2D version.

Seeing Lion King 3D for the THIRD time, tonight with my Dad! (Which should make the Mufasa scene that much rougher lol.) How many times have you seen it, fellow addicts?

What restoration? The files are all digital.

But it seems that there were many subtle changes made when the movie was altered for a 3D version. The same thing happened with Beauty and the Beast Sigh. It seems that Disney has an enormous difficulty to give us the exact same movie that was originally released. I just hope that Disney doesn't do any more 3D conversions, since that might help in getting the original versions released. Sometimes Disney is even worse than George Lucas.

As a former projectionist I can't tell you how many times I have seen "Lion King", in its original release, its re-release, and now as a retired person have seen the 3-D version once, nothing special in it, so I have watched the 2-D version four times so far, and I think we are going as a family tomorrow (Sunday).

Not looking through a 44-page thread, but do we have a list of bonus materials and what won't be on the DVD edition?

Things I didn't notice till last night:
1. Young Simba was a brat
2. Adult Simba was a punk
3. Scar was a conniving, evil b*****
4. Pretty sure Simba and Nala were half-siblings
5. The hyenas were the s***
6. Mufasa's explanation that justified the lions eating the antelope as part of the circle of life was BS!

Otherwise, Lion King was amazing! Go see it in theaters! =]

Or invest in a Blu-ray player. Even if you don't have a Hi-Def television Blu-ray looks amazing on a non-digital television. But, like you, I am keeping my Platinum Edition also. I am a Disney Completist.

@zackisthewalrus. Wow. The Blu-Ray has a lot of bonus features.

So, I finally saw it! The movie of course was incredible! And the 3D was OK. Very cool at some places like the water, speical effects, the petals flying in the wind, and Zazu flying in the wind! And you feel like flying at some places too. My dad was tapping his feet during Hakunta Matata. Also, there was almost a applause during Circle of Life. Someone clapped and that's it.

And my dad loved the movie, calling it incredible!

As The Lion King is such a rip-roaring triumph at the box office, I wonder if Disney will release some more 3-D re-releases. In some ways, I hope so, because despite my passionate hate for 3-D, I'd loved to see The Little Mermaid, Aladdin or (although they're unlikely to be released) the oldest of the Walt-era films on the big screen.

This is a more depressing (for me that is) and laughable article, as it not only strongly supports 3-D, but also insuates that Titanic and Top Gun are classic movies.

I am surprised there is no new music video or even more of the videos from the platinum edition, and even more of the bonus features at that lol.
This just goes to show us what type of re-release we are getting for Hercules and The Hunchback of Notre Dame... NOTHING!

Well they could probably without a doubt release Beauty and the Beast in 3D theaters, even though the 3D blu ray is coming out or is out. Could be a marketing ploy to get people interested in a 3DTV rather than spending money at the theater or something.

Also why do I have the feeling that they could release Finding Nemo like that perhaps before we see it released on Blu Ray? I think it's a possiblity.....

If that's the case it's kinda working. I'm becoming really tempted to invest in a 3DTV. Being a completist with my movie collection, I've been having a really hard time trying to decide if I want a 3DTV at all. I wouldn't use the 3D all the time, but if I want the best release I can get of each Disney film then I want to be able to watch the films I buy in 3D from time to time. Now with Toy Story 1-3, Chicken Little, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast coming out in 3D before the end of the year (and most likely a lot more to follow) I feel like now is the time to decide if I'm going to buy or not. I really don't want to buy the 3D editions if I dont own a 3DTV.

I'm kind of edging toward a 3D TV too. I hope they eventually find a way to do it without wearing glasses (I think that's kinda silly to wear 3D glasses in your living room!) but for some Disney releases like Tron Legacy and Tangled, the 3D really enhances the experience. For Lion King, and other movies I fell in love with in 2D, I could do with or without the 3D.

I don't know about that, but don't forget, we are getting Ratatouille in 3D.
