They seem to be underplaying the simple fact that this is a Pooh film, since some ads don't even have the movie's title.

theres been no promo for it here in new zealand at all. the local cinema has a wall with computer print outs for upcomng films. i expected to see WTP there, if not as a trailer before cars 2. nada. we got kung fu panda 2 and lion king 3d.

in saying that i have no idea when its due out here, but normally they preview upcoming films months in advance.

I don't know about everywhere else in the world, but it's nearly pointless to put too much into advertising here in the U.S.

WTP is releasing the same day as HP7 P2, It's almost blatantly set up to open poorly.

Or as I like to call this..releasing Pooh the same day as the final Harry Potter movie .FILM SUICIDE!!!!

But since it only cost $35 Million to make compared to budgets of $180 to make tangled if I recall correctly, they could break even or get a little above by the time it leaves theaters....if it cost $80 mill to make I'd say...Rest in Peace Pooh....

I think there is some cause to worry, but some people are overreacting. Yes, there hasn't been much advertisement, but I'm sure that it'll pick up by next week. Remember when Mamma Mia! was released at the same time as The Dark Knight? Even though The Dark Knight made tons of money, Mamma Mia! actually did quite well with the circumstances. I feel that this is what Disney's marketing team was thinking. Of course, there are probably a lot of people who don't even know that Pooh is premiering soon--and that's totally Disney's fault--but I feel that that was their original plan. Looking at it right now, however, this'll probably fail. As being one of Disney's highest merchandise sellers, you'd think Disney would advertise more, alas they have not.

There's no rule you can watch one movie per month I find the best movie advertising is at the cinemas themselves, so all the HP fans will probably see huge WTP adverts like I did when I saw Pirates.

I ACTUALLY just saw a commerical on it! It was one of the So Random stars and Bruce Willis talking about Piglet.

I'm still confused. Why was this film released in the U.K. back in April while the U.S. has to wait a whole nother month? Not that I'm going to see it or anything but I just cannot understand Disney's scheduling tactics. For years they've been picking the worst times to release a Disney animated movie into theaters (especially if it's 2D). I mean, releasing Brother Bear on a Saturday (and the day after Halloween) is about as poor a move as they go. I also haveta agree with releasing The Princess and the Frog in December.

I think Disney should re-alter its schedule where a Pixar film would premiere during the summer and a Disney animated film would premier during the Thanksgiving weekend. They keep jumping around with scheduling their film releases too much and it's hurting them bad.

Is there any info on the future dvd or bluray releases in the US. Here in the Netherlands the movie did really poorly and was treated like a baby movie. I believe in Europe there aint gonna be a bluray release. Is there in the US one planned?

It's too soon for any official announcements about a DVD/BD release here in the states. We probably won't know about this for a few more months. I'll be shocked (even if the movie becomes the biggest flop in the history of Hollywood) if we don't get a Blu over here, though.

ok, just googled and wtp isnt due here until october. yeesh! fortunately, its sharing the month with the likes of smurfs, 3 musketeers and conan so it should do quite well. i dont think smurfs will do well here and the other 2 dont sound like kid friendly.

I've seen about 3 commercials, and that's it. Compared to Cars 2, Toy Story 3, Tangled, and The Princess and the Frog, there's no hype for this film at all.

Oh, and my guess as to why the UK got the movie earlier than US is probably because Winnie the Pooh is a Britsh work.

Well, toonaspie, if you think Brother Bear was released at the worst possible time to choose, look at Home on the Range. That was released in April, months before Summer came into effect and months AFTER Winter break had come and gone.

They showed the old trailer in front of Cars 2 for me today, but that one doesn't even have a release date on it. I bet most of the people in there have no clue its coming up so soon.

The old one was shown at my theater as well. While I think it might be one of the best trailers I've seen for multiple reasons...would it have really killed Disney to stick a release date at the end of it? Most people probably think the release date is closer to Christmas than next month.

Really? Man, in the US, even "Mars Needs Moms" is getting a DVD and Blu Ray release. I don't think I get Disney's international strategy very well. Why wouldn't they still releases it on DVD and Blu Ray everywhere? I mean it's part of the DAC for heavens sakes!

I saw the movie before one week here in my local cinema .. it was very cute and enjoyable .. I really liked it
The animation was gorgeous!
