You have every right to write and request anything Disney.

(snip)

Even though there were other posts about OTHER slipcovers, you are asking about a certain one. SO I do not see the big deal AT ALL!
And utilizing the search function, could have easily found this very helpful thread:

Disney Customer Service - which goes into detail about how to go about ordering slipcovers, amaray cases, inserts, disc replacement. It's 10 pages long and I'm sure his answer would be in there.

It would be a lot easier to have referenced that thread than start a new one, knowing that this board is pretty much 50/50 on slipcover love/slipcover hate.
BATBfan1 wrote:I have all the slip covers to date and I wouldn't want my DVDs without them! They make them look nicer and shows off more of the bonus features.
Oh dear, so if the slipcovers burned in a fire but the DVDs were safe, you'd have less appreciation for the DVDs?

And please SPARE ME the lame excuse of "they show off more bonus features". There's a thing called *watching* the bonus features to have them be shown off a lot better than a couple pretty pictures in a piece of cardboard that opens like a book.
BATBfan1 wrote:If someone don't want there slipcovers why don't you make a thread and tell everyone who doesn't have it you don't want yours and you will give it away? Instead of biting everyone's head off when they make a post about a slipcover that someone wants?

Sorry, that just annoys me! 8)
It annoys me when people use the same lame excuses for why they have to have the oh-so-precious slipcover.

1. It opens like a book - big deal, so do real books! And real books are practical!
2. It protects the DVD - yeah, but the cases protect them even more. Like I said before, DVD CONDOM!
3. It makes it look pretty and stand out on the shelf - when the slipcover merely imitates the cover art, I can't understand how it makes it look more pretty and shiny. As for standing out on the shelf, it merely sticks out a millimeter more than a regular case. Don't see how that would truly qualify as standing out.

I hate slipcovers. Many UD'ers know I do. And yet I don't throw them out. Why? Because if the rabid fandom for slipcovers continue, I could just as easily sell a slipcover itself for a lot of dough and not worry about selling the discs. I mean, a month or so ago, there *was* a poster who was asking for slipcovers, and I jokingly said, "I'll sell you mine for $30", and he seriously PM'ed me asking how to pay for it! It's amazing what people will do for such an INSIGNIFICANT piece of cardboard!

I don't condemn those who adore slipcovers, I simply condemn the slipcovers. And it ANNOYS me when someone would pass up on a perfectly fine DVD just because it doesn't have the ridiculous tree-killer.

No problem. Just doing my part in the slipcover wars. I tend to be very vocal about them, much to the disdain of many a slipcover fanatics here.

Ok, so I have to tell you this story about what happened today! :D

So, I drove out to my local Best Buy to pick up The Sword in the Stone (which they had plenty available, so I was able to pick one up), and when I was there, I had the STRONGEST urge just to forget about the slipcover and just buy Alice in Wonderland without it (aka: taking Escapay's advice). But I figured I might go out and get it this weekend. So, then I drove to a big shopping center in my town and went to the Gamestop there. (I went primarily to see if they had any good, cheap movies). And I remembered that they had a copy of Alice, but no case at all, just the disks. And I thought, "Well, if I could buy the disks for like $5 alone, then they might suffice me until I could find a copy with the slipcover and case." So, I went up to the cashier and asked if they still had the Alice DVD's. And she started to go through their DVD drawer, and the manager said, "Oh, it came with the case." and she said, "It did? Oh. Okay... But it's on hold." Then he said, "Oh, I put it on hold. You can put it back if you want." And at first I was like, oh cool. But then, she pulled out the case, and it HAD THE SLIPCOVER!! :D :D   :D I was just like OH MY GOD! I was in heaven. That was probably the biggest suprise that has happened to me in a long time! The ONLY problem was, it didn't have any inserts. But honestly, that's fine with me. I bought Brother Bear for $5 used with no inserts. Which then reminded me (at the store) about my BB DVD, and I saw they had 3 copies, all with the inserts. I explained my situation to the cashier, and she said, "Oh, go ahead. You can have one."!!! Further, I told the manager that I had been searching for a copy of Alice for a long time with the cover, and I said that it adds value to the set if it still has the cover. The manager said that he knew about that, and that's why he dosen't throw the covers away if someone sells him copies with them. (For those who don't know, Gamestops usually throw away the slipcovers because they don't know that some people might want a copy with one! They also think they're absolutely worthless...) I just wish I had asked earlier about the case. Then I would have saved the time to call many Gamestops out of town asking about it. And I would have saved money on long-distance phone calls...and the aggravation of parents yelling about long-distance phone calls. :(

So, NOW, my life's complete. :) And I can't believe how close I came to just buying it at BestBuy and falling to the darkside!! (with Escapay as Darth Vader!) But overall, I'm extremely content with my finds. So, after all of that, I think I'm going to watch my Alice DVD to be sure it works ok. Then SitS! I guess today's a movie kind of day! :D

Wow, Escapay. I'm definately speechless, so no comments on that one.

Oh, that reminds me, I do have one question for you. The question is, do you even hate cardboard covers from VHS's (not the clamshell cardboards)? For one thing, it looks like a slipcover but it protects vhs's from dust and dustmites. :?

Wow, that piece of cardboard must really be worth something. :P
brotherbear wrote:They also think they're absolutely worthless
Because...they are. :D

Still, I've lost a lot of respect for GameStop, but I wouldn't put it past them to throw out the "outer packaging" (see, a euphamism for "dreaded slipcover"!) and think nothing of it.

The dark side is fun and environmentally-friendly! But still, if slipcovers float your boat, good for you.

Hehe, I aim to please. :D

The difference, though, is that the DVD already comes within a plastic case, with the slipcover as an unnecessary extra waste of cardboard. A VHS only comes in a cardboard box (or clamshell case), therefore VHS cases are acceptable.

Escapay,

I have an idea. You and me start a company that sells slip-covers. Let's call it Slip-Covers for Suckers. We can sell pieces of cardboard for $30 a pop. Whataya say? We could make a killing!

Anyone want to be a customer?

I like the way you think! But we gotta use recycled cardboard that way we'll at least get more usage out of a tree that already died.

Those are nice slipcovers, but I would nominate this for "Most Pointless Thread"

You bought Pochahontas from Schulers!! They charge too much for dvds. That's just my opinion, by the way.

I don't understand why this thread was created. We all know what the slip-covers look like. They look like the DVD covers!!
It's absolutely pointless to me. :?
