Well that was quick. Disney put the 50 points in my account that didn't show up when I entered Lilo & BOLT. Also got my Witch Mountain stub points today too. Back up over 6,000 points & waiting in hopes they'll add some nice new sculptures. Belle has gone from low stock to unavailable. The sculpture section is really getting depleted (not that I would ever get any of those Disney Princess ones. They're crap).

The Disney Studios exclusive watch arrived a couple of days ago. It's pretty nice, with a genuine leather band and it's kept in sync within a couple of seconds with the one on the right, a Seiko which I've owned for several years. My DMR balance now stands at zero.

Ohh. I don't remember seeing the watch as a reward before but I just found it. I went ahead and ordered it cause I really like it. I still have 1700 points left. Hopefully I find something else to use my points on.

A Word to the Wise on the Two Watches

I have been saving up my points to get the two watches: the Walt Disney Studios Watch and the Disney Rewards Watch (1900 points each for a total of 3800 points). I received them both this week, and neither of them is running. I called Customer Service and was told that "they have received many calls about the watches having dead batteries." I was told that I could either (A) send them back for a replacement (but they may be out of stock by the time I send them back or the replacements might have dead batteries as well(!) or (B) take them to get new batteries. I am going to take them to the jewelry store tomorrow to see if it is a battery issue with both of them. Quite frankly, I am really miffed. The excuse I was given is "those are an old promotion and have been sitting in a warehouse for a while." Come on, you mean to tell me the person packing them could not push in the stem and see the watches were dead? If it's been an issue, shouldn't they check them before shoving them in the mailer? I can just see some poor child waiting for his or her watch only to have it arrive in less than working order. It's bad enough that one watch was dead. . .but two? Now, it is going to cost me to get the batteries replaced (and hope that is all that is wrong with the watches). In effect, it has cost me 3800 points plus the cost of the batteries. I am now saving up for the Wall-e USB drive. Let's hope it works.

I should have mentioned that the battery in my watch was DOA, but didn't because I don't think it was any big deal. Just get yourself an Energizer #377 battery, (I purchased mine at Walgreen's for $3.00) pop off the back of the watch , replace the battery and you're all set. It took all of about 30 seconds to fix. I wouldn't worry too much about your watches being defective, it is merely an old battery issue. Batteries of this type generally have a shelf life of about a year to hold their charge.

I want a Bolt souvenir though, but there is nothing except kids stuff in stores from what I have seen, mostly plushes only. I was very tempted to get the bobblehead after seeing the movie for the first time tonight, but I have 800 points now and am thinking I'd like to try to save up for the Poppins Umbrella (the adult one), assuming they'll get more (and hoping they get them around the same time I get the points, ha. I hope I can continue to hold out. There are lots of DVDs tempting me too, like Superdad.
A debit card is what I use, and is IMO a better alternative.

Disney Rewards Watches

I never change out watch batteries myself. If you read the fine print on most watch warranties, there is a statement regarding "unauthorized service," which means service (including changing the batteries) not performed by a professional, and by professional I don't mean the person behind the jewelry counter at Wal*Mart--I learned that the hard way when one of those professionals ruined a musical Warner Brothers watch I needed to have the battery replaced on. As someone who has collected specialty watches for many years, I learned a hard lesson to have watch batteries changed by a jeweler. My jeweler charges less than $5.00 to replace the battery; however, my point was not so much the cost of having the batteries replaced, it was the fact that a company as large and with a reputation such as Disney would send out the items in such a state. I can expect a used watch I buy on Ebay to have a dead battery now and again, but a brand new item should be sent out in working order. At the very least the Movie Rewards should put a disclaimer on the item stating that "It is has been brought to our attention. . .".

And speaking of the warranty, the company that made these watches for Disney has gone belly-up. I called the number on the instruction booklet, which directed me to another number, and the recording there basically said, "We are no longer in the watch business as of August 1, 2008." I was then directed to yet another company. If the watch was made by SII Marketing International, and it is not a Disney watch, the recording says "we are not longer able to provide warranty service for your watch."

I bought three more Disney DVDs today:

Home on the Range (75 points)
Mulan 2-Pack (125 points)*
Treasure Planet (75 points)

I now have 490 points.

*=the Mulan dvd came with an additional 100 points.

Doesn't surprise me that DMR would ship out a watch made by a bankrupt company. I learned early on not to redeem any of their electronics rewards. I emailed them when I first started asking what blu ray model they were shipping. They lied, saying it was the 1400 when in reality they were shipping the Samsung 1200 (possibly the worst blu ray player ever made). If you saw all of the tv/dvd combo players they used to have & then went to Amazon (where they sell them) & read the testimonials you'd see they were lucky to last a month before completely breaking down (IF you were lucky enough to get one that worked when you got it). The lcd hdtv was almost never available & a couple people I know of tried to order them & then Disney conveniently audited their accounts and asked for p.o.p. for every code ever entered so that they could avoid shipping them. I am SOOOOO glad I decided to go with the sculptures as it seems anything with a moving part on DMR was a total POS!

Altogether with my points I have like 2,500 but I have NO idea what to use them on and I don't like the statues...if they had that Sieko watch I'd get it in a heartbeat...hopefully they update with more things.

Here is a picture of the sculptures as promised. Sorry if my dresser looks a bit messy. Also my thumb got in the way. The sculptures did come with a certificate. I just forgot to include it.

I'm kind of in the same situation. I like the statues, but there are other things I'd rather get. I was thinking of saving up for the Hannah Montana DVD player (free DVD player, come on now!), but a) they are currently unavailable, and b) more than one person here has complained about the electronics' quality, so I'm not sure. I have 1900 points, with 100 coming (I just received Polly and Polly, Comin' Home today, but Polly didn't come with a DMR code, even though it's supposed to, so I have to mail in the proof of purchase tab and the receipt to get my points.

I, too, hope that they have new merchandise soon. I'd love to redeem for the TLK Broadway tickets, but then I'd have to try and afford plane tickets to NYC... If someone asked me what prizes I'd like to see, I'd say that I'd like to see more plushes (I already have the Musketeer Mickey one), gift cards (I used to like the $10 DisneyShopping.com gift cards), and the option to get any Disney DVD (not just the few Exclusives they have available).

There actually is a thing on the page where you can give your opinions and they ask what you'd like to see available as rewards! I put down more DMC DVDs and maybe out of print DVDs too, and also keep the WDCC statuettes coming (who knows, I may be able to get one someday), and most importantly, to please try to get more of the adult Mary Poppins umbrella I've been saving up for. Wanted one of those since I was a kid! Though I don't expect it comes with a lever to make the mouth of the parrot open and close, which would have been really cool (and probably more of an accurate reproduction). I also suggested more replicas in general. Would love to have gotten those replica mouseketeer ears they had a while ago.

PS, Amy, I still need to get those Black Cauldron plushes to you when I get the chance.

Where on the website is that giving options option, Nathan? And I totally forgot about the plushes!!! We should keep in touch about them- I don't even remember if we've emailed before about them, but I can email you or you can email me about them! :)

Okay, I just went through it, and here's how you get there. Log in, then go to the rewards page where it plays that "Hot Picks" video and shows the different rewards categories. On the right, below the "Enter Code" section, there is a "Tell us what you think about this page" button. It's a little survey (no points for it though, ha), and at one point it asks about what sort of rewards you'd like to see added or more of. And, yeah, ha, I'll e-mail ya about Gurgi and Hen Wen.

I decided to buy 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea today, but I was disappointed when I found out it was not eligible for points.
