Looks like they will be available in DVD-packaging as well. Looking at Disney's official calender of releases, there's clearly an entry for Mulan's Blu Ray in DVD-packaging (grey border as usual). It's not fully updated yet with all the other titles but chances are all will be available.

Also, Amazon is listing duplicate Blu Ray pre-orders with the same price and no artwork, so looks like these will be the pre-orders for the DVD-cased ones.

My theory is these people don't like bargains. I say keep them coming. More movies for me while they lose sleep because they get an extra "long cartoon".

I don't like a lot of the sequels, but I would love for bundles to become the norm in Europe as well. Some of them are nice and since we're paying exactly the same price (our latest releases over here are about €23 which is not cheap), we might as well get something out of it. Quality isn't affected, most of the separate releases are in 25GB discs anyway and it's not like Disney cares for extras anymore, so...

See we're on the same page. I don't want to sound like a jerk & you all seem like genuinely nice people but c'mon are you guys the real deal?! You ARE paying the same price you would for another movie. Alice in Wonderland, Aristocats, Pocahontas, Rescuers, & the Cinderella sequels all run for $29.99 and the DVDs $19.99. It's not like Fantasia in 2010 when that set was more expensive for 2 movies. And so what if they put the "cheapquel" on the same disc, you know disney is being cheap as hell, other than that you don't have to ever press play, duh. It baffles me you guys are missing out on some of your favorite films (in your precious HD) because you get an extra "long cartoon" which you are in no way obligated to watch. Maybe I'm the one that's crazy. Oh well, I'm gonna go brush my hair.

I don't mind the sequels in a bundle either. It's not bad enough for me to boycott the release just because it has a DTV Sequel included.

If the two movies are on the same disc, that doesn't mean they share the same menu, right??? Is there a preliminary screen where you choose either movie?
And another question guys, how many GB does a Blu ray film usually take on the disc?

Depends on the movie. The Dark Knight Rises is what, 36? Disney movies are about 20-22 but it depends. Are you interested in a specific movie?

People here said that Disney puts both movies (original & sequel) on one disc and I was curious to know if there's even enough space for that. Pocahontas for example, is it squeezed along with the sequel on the same disc? I hope the quality is not compromised...

it's the same encoding, no difference. most separate releases in Europe are on 25GB discs now. Pocahontas 1 / 2 were split across 2 25GB discs in Europe, 50GB discs in the US. AND, the great surprise in all this is that Fox and the Hound has a higher bit-rate in the US version than the separate releases (don't know if that shows though)

On the Disney Blu-ray double feature discs, there's only one menu. Selecting 'Play' will then bring up another option where you choose which film you want to see.

Wow, I'm really surprised by both this announcement and the cover artwork! It's actually quite tasteful, and the Hunchback one is gorgeous. That may be the first Disney cover that actually makes me want the movie more instead of less, haha.
That's definitely going to be an expensive day, though. Hunchback and Mulan are huge favorites of mine, and I'll be getting Atlantis and Brother Bear too. Never seen the former and I haven't seen the latter in years, but I've heard good things about both.
Hopefully this means Robin Hood, Lilo & Stitch, Sword and the Stone, and several others aren't too far off. Next year really could be amazing if they release another 'wave' of titles in the summer!

I feel the same. There's some sequels I really, really dislike, such as those for Hunchback, Fox and the Hound, and Pocahontas, but I'm a big fan of the originals and I'm hardly going to miss out on getting them on Blu-Ray because they come with a sequel I'm not forced to watch. And I'm happy for the people who do enjoy the sequels, because this means they don't have to pay extra to own them. I enjoy a lot of sequels to titles in the Diamond line (Lion King and Aladdin trilogies, Cinderella 3, etc.) and having to buy all of them separately is quite expensive and annoying. If the Brother Bear and Mulan sets save other people money, I say good for them. And since I'm buying a lot of sequels anyways, getting most of the ones I like less for free doesn't bother me at all.
The only thing I'd say is that Disney should definitely start doing what they did with Hunchback, and keep all characters from sequels off the covers. But otherwise, it costs the same with or without the sequel, so I don't see a need for all the complaints and boycotting.

Unfortunately no. The only WDAS to get steels have been Diamond Editions and Princess and the Frog.
That said, previous years have been dominated by Pixar steels... but they've now run out of Pixar catalog titles, so I'm hoping they'll do some more Disney ones.
