im getting the dvd after uni today! providing they have it. still not sure on whether to get the BD disc or not... it depends of how much I want to watch the bonus features.

While I'm here, everyone who is quoting read the forum posting and guidelines thread (especially the quoting tutorial) at the top of the forum. I will be going back through the posts to fix some of the excessive quoting that has been done.

The DVD just came out today, but I might get it later this week, but I just want to say I spoke to my uncle that the movie theater that I do remember when I first saw "Pinocchio" was the Clinton Theater in my hometown of Brooklyn, NY. That was where I saw a reissue of "Pinocchio" for the very first time since I was three months old along with a classic 1978 short "The Small One" which I do have in my "Classic Holiday Stories" DVD.

For those of you who haven't heard the Clinton Theater was a movie theater located in the Brooklyn Heights section. That theater was closed down a long, long ago when it was replaced by something else.

The Clinton Theater was the only movie theater when I first saw "Pinocchio". It brings a tear to my eye.

So, I got my copy at Best Buy with a free cup and almost didn't make it over there. Today of all days they held a meeting at my part time job. Not sure why I have to go to those. I'm there like one day a week, ha. Anyway, I barely made it to Best Buy before closing and they literally only had 2 Pinocchio Blu-Rays left! There were only standard DVDs left in the cardboard display, and not a ton of them. I was pretty surprised. Glad they still had the cups. Though, personally, I can't imagine cups like these would last long if you actually used them, and yet I don't need cups as a display item... I won't use it till I have my own place though, ha.

Got my Blu copy today and I love it! I wouldn't recommend the "Disney view" option. It's very annoying. Stick with the regular black bars but just be careful and not pause the screen too long, the black bars will burn lines in your tv screen. I had this happen one time before and had to buy another tv. Can't wait for SW&TSD!!!!!!!!!

by the time i got to my local best buy, all the cups had ran out. can you post pictures of the cup, please?

That's weird. I bought both Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty today at Target. The Pinocchio case didn't have the locks, but Sleeping Beauty did.

This picture is borrowed from an Ebay auction. Pinocchio is on the other side. I haven't seen him though, because it is hard to turn the cup while it's still in the package, and I don't want to take it out anytime soon. And it's lenticular, giving a 3D effect. Basically the same as the Little Mermaid cup they gave out recently.

Well, from what I hear, most newer HDTVs don't have burn-in problems. I have a Panasonia plasma, and I know by default the pillarboxes for non-widescreen sources were *grey*, I went back and changed them to black. But since we don't have HD cable, 99% of what I watch (not counting movies) has black pillarboxes, and in the 2 months we've had the TV, no symptoms yet.

Also: It has this option to instantly "pan and scan" an HDMI input - since it starts out 4:3, nothing will be cropped off, BUT you can now use multi color bars. In case you're paranoid or have an older TV. Just thought I'd offer my two cents of advice.

As for that CD... I don't really want it... I only bought the Target one because I was AT Target, if anyone REALLY wants it make an offer and I might part with it already. Or I can upload mp3s, one or the other. (Sigh, why does everything have to reek of Disneymania? Why can't they provide the originals or at least GOOD renditions?)

I've just finished the film, and it's just as I remember it!

All I wanna say is...I got my regular Pinocchio platinum dvd today...and it looks freakin amazing. The restoration is superb.....and i feel no need for a blu-ray

Bought mine from Best Buy today. I pulled a Pinocchio out of its slipcover and saw the locks. Looked through more of them and found not all of them had locks! So, I think these locks are placed randomly. Sometimes you'll get them, sometimes you won't...but Disney is still producing them.

I just got my Pinocchio DVD , as yet I have no Blu Ray player , the movie looks marvellous , and the trailer for
Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs looks fabulous , crisp, clear and utterly beautiful - I simply cannot wait until October !!!!

me neither the dvd looks beautiful on my laptop.

No one has mentioned here that the Blu-Ray version comes with a standard DVD of Disc One, so you can do some comparing, or at least not spend the extra money to get the regular DVD.

I have watched "Pinocchio" twice, the second time with all the features on Disc Two, and I am now amazed at what Disney has done with this classic. I went out this morning and picked up a used copy of "Sleeping Beauty" on Blu-Ray for $12.99.

I think Disney would be wise to use this tactic of including a standard DVD with the Blu-Ray for those who have DVD players in their cars, or who have not upgraded their second television to HD with a Blu-Ray player.

And at $22.99, it is definitely worth the price. And the Cup is an added bonus.

I think it has been mentioned here at least one time on every page. It's in the 'review' here as well, and in the press release.
