I'm the same. I can't wait for the CD now! End of Feb can't come fast enough!

I have to save. A LOT. If I save long and hard I may be able to afford to go and see this end of this year/beginning of next. Though I am tempted to wait till the end of next year as it's the 20th anniversary but then I really want to see tyhe original cast again...

I know what you mean. All of the money I have coming in now is going towards seeing it again. It's easier to get tickets the week before the show you want to see, but you can only buy maybe two or three tickets at a time. And they're really expensive. I really wanted to see Cody or JJ as Flounder one more time, but they're leaving tomorrow.

Now I'm just excited to see the new Flounders.

I was told that my cast recording was coming February 5th because I pre-ordered it at the theatre, so I hope that guy was right. Otherwise, I'll be getting that one and the picture disc one on February 26th. xD

"She's in Love" is hilarious.

You know....I was thinking. "Little Mermaid on Broadway" may be totally different from the movie, but that's what Broadway does. I like the new Ursula. I like the way Flounder looks. It's very unique.

I totally agree. Like they say in all of the interviews, it keeps the heart of the story but it makes it something new and creative for the stage. I understand everyone has their own opinion on it, and some people don't like it all that much, but for what they have, I think it's spectacular.

For example, if they had Flounder's costume look exactly like the cartoon character where it's like sticking off of him, it would look like something at Disney World. The costumes they have has a total Broadway feel and I love it.

The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney classic and I was skeptical to see it because I didn't know what to expect, but I enjoyed it more than any other Broadway show I've seen.

I know it's going to do amazing and I can't wait until I'm 25 going to see The Little Mermaid on Broadway again (I'm 17 now xD).

Heh. XD I promised myself one of these days I would be in TLMOB....Or maybe OFF Broadway....But I'd be in it as Ariel or Ursula.

I still have time....And I can belt really well...but I need some more training. And I can't dane. XD I can act, though. I'm a horrible liar.

Which of the Flounders is on the cast recording? And does anyone know who it was for the opening night?

I'm not sure who was there opening night, but I know Brian D'Addario is on the cast recording.

It makes me kind of mad though because technically, he's not the ORIGINAL Flounder; Cody and JJ are. He still has a really good voice, but I think JJ is better, plus he was apart of the original cast.

I would have prefered JJ or Cody as well. They were original cast, JJ was fantastic and I've always wanted to hear Cody.

Brian was good though.

So, I remember watching this short version of The Little Mermaid a long time ago, and it follows the original story quite closely. It's in live action. My question is in the future, if someone was to make a live action version of the Disney film/Broadway musical, will it look sort of like these clips?

Also, how did they film this? I mean, I know they used green/blue screen, but did they add CGI water, sea creatures, fins, etc?

Yes, the did add this all. If you look close enough you see it's fake.
By the way, I love this movie, so touching and the fairytales are really true to the real story (Duh, the movie is about the real writer )
Expecially because you can't find a movie wich holds the original story of the TLM.
Like that mermaids live 300 jears and have no soul and the mermaid's dead because of the prince's marriage with a other princess.

I'm back from my trip the NYC!

I am so glad I got my ticket for 1/11! I got to be there, on opening night! Not inside the theater, but outside, watching all the celebs walk down the red carpet! There was one celeb, who I noticed before she made it to the red carpet, and I had to hurry up, and approach her. This would be my only chance to meet her, and thank her, this celeb happen to be Jodi Benson! She was so sweet, and listened to every thing I said, she even hugged me! I asked her for a picture, and she said "of course, always for a fan."

Now on to the musical. There have been many small changes to the music. Alot of lines have been reworked, I'm sure you have heard them, thanks to Playbill Radio. I really miss the "Finale" lyrics, where Ariel and Eric sang to each other. Talking about he was her land, and she was his sea. It was sooo sweet.
I guess, if you have seen the video on You Tube, in the reprise of Part of Your World, they did do the "splash". But it was achieved by pulling the water up, and I guess it's a splash, or maybe she dived under water, either way it worked on stage.
During the contest, Ariel didn't try to sing, and nothing come out this time. She just did they dance that Eric taught her, because, as her told her. Dance is a language felt, not heard
I'm not too sure, if she was suppose to be a giant, but Ursula's tentacles are stretching across the stage, and out of the side of the stage. So maybe, I'm not too sure honestly.
The ending, from Denver is different. Ariel does indeed turn back into a mermaid, Ursula even mentions "no more pretty pink dress", or something to that nature. Also, Ariel grabs Ursula's shell, and her voices comes back to her. But when Ariel destroys Ursula's magic shell, she doesn't roll away, like in Denver, but she falls throw a trap door on the stage, Ala Wicked Witch of the West in Wizard of Oz.
Triton also turns Ariel into a human, similar to the movie, the way this is done, is by her mersisters circling her. And take her tail off, and she is wearing a purple skirt thing, think Legally Blonde the musical for this transformation.

I do think that was the only serious changes in the musical, that I noticed.

A cool thing happened, Sierra Boggess remembered me! I was waiting out by the barricade thing, and she came out. And I was like hey! And I was about to tell her, I saw her back in Denver, and she bursts out with. "OMG! I remember you, you saw the show back in Denver." Totally made my night, she was so happy, and autographed my picture of us together.

I am so glad Brian D'Addario got to be on the OBCR, he was soooo cute and perfect for Flounder. I think it's good they went for a younger Flounder, JJ was awesome, but Brian captured that cute, guppy essence.

Those pics on the program are beautiful! If only the show actually looked like that (not bashing the show, BTW, just saying that the pics are likely enhanced to make them look more colorful).

Thanks for the pictures! The book looks fantastic. I love how they put both JJ and Cody pictures. The only one I didn't like as much was If Only; it looked very photo shopped.

I've seen the show twice on Broadway, but they were still in previews so they didn't have the book or anything. I have to go back really really soon!!
