$1 billion worldwide and soon an Oscar winner! Who would have expected this in the months before this film's release when everyone seemed completely unenthused by it?

I know! A year ago, none of us expected this. What a great surprise!

And some of us are still unenthused by it.
But I am happy for Ginnifer Goodwin.

As The Lion King was infamously dubbed the "B" movie, Zootopia will always be known as the "Sleeper Hit" that Disney CEO Bob Iger infamously stated

Hmm. It is suspicious. They didn’t give detail on character connections (I only read the first 7 or so pages of the 2nd link though) for me to see if it was more obvious. Was the ostrich the villain in his pitch?

I am calling bull on his claims. I think they are pulling up superficial details to make like it seems that they are very similar. This just screams opportunist behavior.

He has no one to blame but himself because HE was the one who pitched the idea of this to Disney when he was employed
by them, not once, but twice? When your employed by Disney, and you as an individual give them your idea of an animated feature, it's not them stealing, your just feeding the Beast ideas. Since your employed by the company, they will just reject your idea early, then reexamine it without your knowledge, and as years go by & you leave the company to pursue other opportunities they may release your idea as a feature, claim it as they're own, but it's not stealing, since it was YOU who gave them the idea when you were an employee years ago. To me that's just foolish. Isn't this what happened to Brenda Chapman with Brave? Good luck to him fighting Disney in the courts. Lesson here is NEVER give Disney/Pixar any of your original ideas AT ALL, because they will just use your idea, wait til you leave, & only the big Directors/Producers will get the credit.

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong - I had to skim through the article, but I don't think he
was employed by Disney at the time,
DisneyEra. I think he was simply an outsider pitching his idea to Disney.
In any case, I'm not sure what to make of this, except that the plaintiff is not the usual artist-wannabe conman, but rather a "
reputable author whose distinguished credits includes writing Total Recall and Next and producing Minority Report."
Looks kinda serious if you ask me.

One big problem with that guy's lawsuit is the fact Zootopia started out as being a spy animal thriller, and not about the city itself until halfway into production. Heck, it started out as Jack Savage then turned into the dystopian version before getting to the final product.
