Nice catch! Here's the storyboard panel of the princesses in question.

It's nice to finally see it, one year later. At least they look somewhat on-model there.

Interesting that Moana and Merida weren't in the concept art. I presume Pocahontas is the one in the back with the dark blondish looking hair.

Something about
empire soldiers guarding the princesses creeps me out. I mean, I know fairy tales (not just Disney films but in general) glorify monarchies, but this--unintentionally, I know, since they're just promoting different brands simultaneously--accentuates that unfortunate aspect of fairy tales. The elite princesses tied with the evil empire...
I could be wrong and those aren't empire soldiers though. I'm not much of a Star Wars fan.

Please don't take this as
complaining, it's only an unrelated, stray thought that crossed my mind when looking at that picture. Although I guess the princesses are already the faces of an evil empire--Disney's.

I love the Ariel one, the Jasmine one, and of course the Cinderella one. Is Cinderella drinking champagne?

I hadn't thought about it before. I don't think it was a good idea to have the stormtroopers as their bodyguards.

Maybe Moana and Merida weren't initially planned to be in the film and were added later.

This is what I'm thinking. Merida could have been excluded because of her Pixar background and maybe they decided to add her in order to utilize the joke about her being from another company. As for Moana, I guess maybe they felt she wasn't princessy enough at first but since most people consider her a princess anyway, despite what her film says, they realized it would look bad to exclude a minority princess.

I have always felt Cinderella would drink. Especially at the ball. In 2002's Broadway Into the Woods, she was said to be "a little tipsy" after the ball and that is why she fell twice from running away in the woods.

Please go easy on me, it's 3 am here....but I cannot figure out Mulan's pin. That says "GUTB" right? I tried urban dictionary but no good.
What are they trying to say?
EDIT: I see it is a D now. Get Down To Business!

Lol, I still haven't seen the original show. I know they recorded it into a filmed version of the stage production so I should catch that one of these days.
I'm not sure Disney would portray one of their princesses ever drinking though. Even for a pin that will likely be more popular with adult collectors.

Lol, I wasn't the only one struggling with this. I thought it said GOTB though before googling GDTB and realizing that it's one of the signature lines from Mulan.

me too, haha, I thought the D was an O. I was like, GOTB? Get ON The Bus? what?
I love the pins too, my faves are Mulan, Tiana(I think Tia looks adorbs with her hair like that) and Merida(I have thick frizzy hair, I can relate, lol!) I wonder of Elsa, Anna, Poca and Moana will get pins?

I swear she has champagne and not a sundae...but watch the filmed original Broadway Into the Woods, it's way better than the Disney movie!

What are the things you think make the Disney version inferior or at least not as good as the original Broadway stage adaptation? I know a lot of people complain about Rapunzel not dying since it leaves the Witch's arc unfinished. I think people said Act 2 isn't given enough time to breathe in the final film.
