WOW hahaha that's hilarious--wait, is that guy from Mario? Why does he look familiar?
Also, what do you guys think of Rapunzel's 'nicknames' in the fandom, like Punzie, ect? Personally I really, really do not like them. I mean, you could be called worse, but.....
Then again almost everyone who knows me IRL (even some family members) calls me by my full name, so maybe I'm biased XD

Rapunzel's fan nicknames just show how much this movie has resonated with the audience. I can't recall any other Disney princess having that level of connection.
Some on Facebook have taken to calling her "Punzie Fitzherbert".

The audience connection part is thrilling, but that nickname still makes me cringe. The only one I really like is 'Blondie,' and that's from the film anyway (although I don't like 'Goldie' much...)
'Zel' is even worse.

It's walugi. The guy who makes these comics make a on going joke how weird, bizarre, and ugly Walugi is.
Ariel suppose to be traumatize by his appearance.

God, I hate the nicknames. We don't need them. We really don't.

Ahh okay, I was thinking 'Wario? No....' Thanks! I don't play the Mario games much but I have a working knowledge of them
His appearance is definitely traumatizing. Lucky she saw Eric instead, hmm?

Zel?

I've seen it around! And 'Brownie,' which makes me think of a pet....like, somebody's curly-haired spaniel or something.

Well he hasn't actually been in a real Mario game, just Mario sports and the odd spin off. So its understandable to not be too familiar with him. The guy's work is hilarious though. know him from IGN's boards. is this a recent comic of his? didn't think he was still doing comics. His style is great, he's good at conveying humor with little to no words at all.
but now we're getting off topic...

Rapunzel resonated because it was a strong movie but also her character was well written, developed and shown on-screen. Her modern independent woman yet still a sucker for true love persona is just entirely more relevant and an embodiment or rather characterization of the current modern female IMO rather than the Snow White/Sleeping Beauty and to a lesser extent Cinderella of the past.
I would not be surprised if the home video sales eventually outnumber those movies. Furthermore she is a warm, interesting, talented and ingenious character who is also relatable which may be the edge over Tiana and possibly the 90s princesses but I cannot say for sure since I haven't seen those movies in years. I will also say that the romance here is very sweetly and engagingly developed whilst PATF came across forced and outright lame.

I wonder if Kawena has any Disney animators amongst his fans.
I'll bet Andreas Deja is one of them.

They are hilarious though.
