He said that Andalasia looks happy and cutesy so people will watch the "real" Princess films and he also said that he thinks Giselle is based on all of them and she's not a real Princess but I think it's wrong and Giselle is a real Princess and Enchanted is a real Princess movie.
[quote]

The Merchandise isn't Canon AP, therefore Giselle isn't a real princess. Considering she even said so herself in the movie  Although this isn't the place to debate this further.

Sorry for the off-topicness :)

I forgot to mention her :D . Honestly, I've never actually seen Sleeping Beauty. I only saw the scene with the dragon as part of a special called Disney's Halloween Treat. I do plan to rent it when the PE comes out, though.

Ariel'sprince, you are right, Cinderella is like Snow White in many ways, but she was meant to be very different, and she is.

Giselle was meant to be like many Disney princesses before her, and she was, but then changed.

I will not accept Andalasia as the same kind of fairy tale place as the other kingdoms of Disney's full-length animated fairy tales, because those kingdoms were meant to be somewhere in real places, like Germany, France, and the Middle East.

But I do accept Giselle as her own character, and as a Disney heroine.

And if you like it, you can go out and buy the thing :)

Of course she plays the part of a Princess, and very well! She is gifted with beauty and song, and is very graceful, too. In my opinion, she is the most beautiful princess.

Also, in the first scenes of the movie she is completely hailed for being the princess! It's practically all about her! ...The people making their way to the castle, the gifts scene, the curse scene, and even the burning of the spinning wheels scene!
Then we skip her whole life to the day that she returns to her kingdom and recognizes herself as a princess. She's a princess throughout most of the movie, and by birth always is one.

Oh, and she is the only princess with a crown! LOL

When said Giselle is a real Princess I don't meant she's actually royalty,I meant that she is a real character and her character so she is her own Disney Princess.
Snow White,Aurora,Jasmine and Ariel are the most real Princesses and are princesses by birth,Cinderella and Belle are princesses,Pocahontas is also a princess by birth since her father is the cheif of her tribe and Giselle and Mulan are close to Princess (Giselle almost married a prince and Mulan got honor like a princess),I think she and Mulan fits anyway.

What do you mean changed? in the film itself? (I don't think she really changed, she just knows more about life).
I see your about Andalasia but it's not really earth and I don't think Agrabah or Atalntica are in real places.
I"m glad you also thinks that Giselle is her own Princess :D.

Yeah  in the Enchanted Tales golden dresses and the Jeweled dresses she's the only one with a crown so the others have those tiaras .
Thought Giselle and Tiana have tiaras.

I heard that the principal reason why Giselle isn't part of the Disney Princess line is because Disney realised that they'd have to pay Amy Adams royalties, which they were miserly enough not to want to do. ;)

As for Sleeping Beauty (since I don't believe to have posted in this thread)...whilst I won't be getting a HD-TV or a Blu-Ray player for a while (due to still being a student and feeling guilty if I bought such a thing :P), I'll buy this on Blu-Ray anyway. Sure, I won't be able to use it for at least two years, but it looks pretty and I can't be bothered shelling out for the DVD when I've got the old two-disc edition on that format anyhoo. :p

You could say that it's a tiara for her veil. I never thought of it as a crown... This gets me thinking...LOL.

I think Mulan is really just a heroine; I think she got honor like a heroine rather than a princess, after all, her honor was for saving China.

As for Pocahontas, I don't think the daughter of a chief would be called a princess; the chief is called simply "chief", not "king". In the first Pocahontas movie they never call her a princess, but in the second movie her father does call her a princess. Although I think that's cute, I think the word may have just been added there because it's a Disney movie; had it been a movie made by the people in charge of the big movies and not the sequel/direct-to-home video studios, they'd probably would have a more carefully chosen dialogue.

Well, she got something like royality,I think that saving China made her something like a Princess.
About Pocahontas,a cheif is a king, the Indians just call it a cheif,I don't think it's like calling Elizabth Swan a princess because her father is the governor of Port Royal.
Also in Pocahontas John Rolf say a lot of times that she's a princess.

I remember when "Pocahontas" first came out, Pocahontas was described as an "Indian princess" in some publications.

*sigh*

If everyone wants to debate who's a Princess etc. can we at least take all of this off-topic talk into it's own thread? This is supposed to be a thread on a totally different subject.

Mods could you *if you have time* merg the posts into it's own thread?

Thanks in advance :)

We can make a thread about who's a real princess and who isn't.
You know,PeterPanFan,If you don't have anything nice to say you shouldn't say anything    .

I remember all too well, but all the posts from this thread should be merged into a different one at least so this topic can be on track again.

Back on track:

I'll be picking up this dvd simply because I don't have it yet aside from the VHS version. Also the one bonus feature about the Virtual Castle Tour or whichever it was called sounds interesting but I'm not getting my hopes up about it.

Some time ago the French Walt Disney expert Pierre Lambert was rumoured to be writing a
Sleeping Beauty
book - a companion volume to his other Disney books Mickey Mouse , Pinocchio Blanche Neige (Snow White) and his latest volume L'Age D'Or du Disney (The Golden Age of Disney)

I do hope that this rumour is borne out in fact , as Lambert's books are all really beautifully illustrated , and produced to a very high standard!

I have posted similar posts before but they never seem to get much reaction I wish Hyperion would release his Blanche Neige in an English language version!
