If only my 11th grade English teacher knew what she started 5 years ago...

This is also incomplete. I have more...just ran out of effective shelf space. Once I get my own place, it'll be in full glory. (Also, for anybody wondering, I re-organized my Pixar films after I took this picture. I decided to put all of the shorts collections together after Brave. It was bugging me.)

I'd love to hear that story!

And nice collection!

Rather than post a picture of my whole collection, here's a nice set-up for one of my favorite Disney films of all time.

Image

It's missing a few versions (CLV LaserDisc, Platinum VHS, Diamond Blu/DVD in DVD Packaging, Diamond Blu/DVD in DMC Packaging, the 3-D Edition, and various international releases with the same content but different packaging/artwork), but I'm satisfied with the ones I have.

I only do this for films I really love. Most others I just have in one or two editions depending on what features are included/excluded between them.

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite as well, very nice Escapay. But, you gotta get the Tale As Old As Time art of book in there somewhere! (And get rid of that fugly DVD-only edition from the Diamond release.) You should print out your Criterion BatB cover and put it in a Criterion case!

Haha, yeah, I forgot to include my BATB books (the 1991 book which was excerpted from Bob Thomas' Art of Animation book, the 2010 book, the original Little Golden Books, the junior graphic novelization, and the "New Adventures" comic books).

I'd need to also design the spine and back covers for my Criterion (which is just the 2002 re-release poster with the C and the sidebar) before I print it out. :P

Impressive.

I have the Diamond blu-ray, the Platinum Edition and the Dutch Platinum edition with the fancy cover (Belle and the Beast in front of the glass window)

I missed out on the book cover diamond dvd. I got those book editions for Snow White, Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians and Sleeping Beauty though.

Again, nice collection!

Pfft... No BatB collection is complete without The Enchanted Christmas AND Belle's Magical World. And you call yourself a fan... Image

Seriously though, Image

Thank you!

As for the story, I loved Disney when I was younger. Once I got to middle school, however, I decided that I was too old for Disney stuff, and I refused to watch most Disney things. A middle school teacher played part of Finding Nemo for us, and I hated it. Same with Lilo and Stitch. (Of course, now that is one of the top Pixar movies I watched.)

I got into Pixar movies in 2006 (surprisingly with Cars), but other Disney...was not into it. Right before Christmas break, my 11th grade English teacher decided to reward us by showing her favorite movie, The Little Mermaid. I was not expecting to enjoy it as a 16 year old, but as I watched it, I was blown away by Disney's ability to tell a story, the music, everything. I went home that day, and I took out my VHS copy of the movie so I could finish it. Once I finished TLM, I wondered if other movies were the same way. I got out Hunchback, Mulan, Pocahontas, Pinocchio...all movies I hadn't seen in years, and I watched them.

I was still blown away by them, and my Disney obsession was born. I spent December '07 until June '09 watching all of the canon movies. As you can see by my collection, I still love the movies...even some of the goofier ones (aka HSM trilogy).

I figured this is a good place to ask, does anyone have any ideas on displaying Disney lithographs w/o framing them? I don't have enough wall space to display them all without them looking ridiculous.

Great story! I always love hearing about "revisitations" to Disney, mainly because it shows the endurance that Disney has over time. It's a genre in itself, one that transcends beyond the childhood nostalgia with which many associate animated films. Really glad to see you've rediscovered your love for Disney. Even the goofy stuff.

Iceflash, you can always do what my brother does and simply invest in some Poster Frames with Pressboard Backing. That way, you could fit a few lithos in there, maybe even include some other smaller images and make a nice montage.

Or, if you can acquire 11x14 sheet protectors, you can put your lithos in there, and then put them all in a decorative binder for people to peruse through without damaging the lithos.

It will still be wall-mounted, but maybe you could save space this way, or have a rotating set of posters that you can change each month.

Or, if you can acquire sheet protectors, you can put your lithos in there, and then put them all in a decorative binder for people to peruse through without damaging the lithos. I don't think the link I gave has 11x14 protectors, a cursory glance yielded only the 8.5x11 standards. But maybe they could be custom-ordered...

And thanks, everyone, for the compliments to my Beauty and the Beast collection. :)

I found and bought something awesome at a Goodwill I hit while I was out of town this past Wednesday.

Presenting
Image
Merlin!
He's ten inches tall excluding the hat. Someone removed his tush tag so I have zero information on him. But whatever his manufacturer is there's no mistaking the source of inspiration to create him was none other than Merlin from the 1963 animated film "The "Sword in the Stone". I've always loved that version of Merlin so I'm very happy to be the owner of this look-a-like plush of him. :float: His round spectacles are made of clotheshanger wire and painted brown which is unfortunately chipping a bit.

Nice find! You might be interested in checking out this ebay auction then. :) I can't read the tag on the image but maybe someone else here will be able to recognize if it's a piece of merchandise from the parks or something.

Hey, thanks! I wasn't sure if Disney made him because the same plastic eyes are seen on so many generic stuffed toys. The auction description mentions the name of the Sears store on his tush tag. That's what I needed to know and someone had to take the tag of mine away. :P

Escapay! You're back! :pink:

I'm quite glad that this thread was bumped up. I always find it interesting to look at other people's collections to see what sort of things I don't have, as well to see how people set their collections up.

I'm hoping to get a few more things of mine into frames, such as my Jungle Book Litho's, and the skinny art cards from the 7 dvds that have various shorts put together on them. I managed to find frames for all of my Walt Disney Treasure pictures, but it's a different matter of finding a way to put them all up on display nicely.

Hoping to post pictures soon. Until then, great collections everyone!

I bought some great stuff at a Goodwill yesterday (19th)!

$2.99 Disney's Living Seas Epcot 15" Dolphin Plush
Image

$0.99 Disney Store 6" Winter Pooh Plush
Image

$2.99 (for the pair) Bone China 2" Mickey and Minnie Figurines
Image

$4.99 17" x 15" The Little Mermaid Framed Picture (Lithograph?)
Image
Image

The Little Mermaid picture was my favorite buy of the visit (I've loved The Little Mermaid since I was Lilo's age! :D). I was flipping through a big stack of framed pictures leaning against a wall that from far away looked like old rough surface wooden picture frames with no doubt old fashioned pictures in them but I thought just maybe I could find a picture I'd like to have in the stack. And boy, did I! I'm hanging this beauty in my bedroom! I doubt I'll find a better piece of Ariel merch at a thrift store/yard sale/swap meet that can top this. I wish I had some info about this framed picture. There's no name or info anywhere on it.

Cool collection indeed! When & where was the big purple box (back in the middle of the picture) released? And what kind of release is it? Is it VHS, DVD, Blu-ray...?
