LOTR: TROTK - great movie

I watched Beauty and the Beast last night My 3rd favourite Disney movie.

Two nights ago I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I just saw Pulp Fiction for the first time. I know a lot of people see this as a holy grail of sorts, so please don't flame me, but I pretty much hated it. I found it to be slow, boring, pretentious, and self-indulgent. Tarantino's films always end up being the same... New Wave wanna-be's with violence in excess. There was some good acting, good music, and witty dialogue (though way too much of it that rambled on and on... intentionally, I realize, but it didn't fly). I'll give it that, but not much else. I'm okay with a non-linear narrative and I thought that despite its reputation, it was easy enough to follow, but I found little to interest or compel me. I never take to these kinds of movies, though, and I'm beginning to accept that Mr. Tarantino and I will just never see eye to eye.

Wow, I've watched A LOT of movies this week!

I just finished watching these over the past 2 days:

The Emperor's New Groove- 9.3/10 It was hilarious as usual
102 Dalmations- 8.9/10 Very Enjoyable, not as good as its predecessor, but still an excellent movie.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs- 8. 7 An amazing achievement by Walt Disney himself, a bit boring in places, but still an incredible piece of Disney Magic.

And I'm about to watch Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas

I just watched Herbie Fully Loaded. It was the first time I had seen it. I was actualy quite surprised. I enjoyed it. As my mom said, it was corny but cute.

Watched Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Were Rabbit last night. I found it pretty entertaining.

Brother Bear II. Well, I gotta tell you if the original is better than the sequel, then I'm missing out on a whole lot! It was not a huge disappointment it was rather good. And I hate to admit this being one of UD's biggest Bambi fans but IMO Brother Bear II is better than Bambi II. IMO. I mean it had a better plot, better actors (except for Patrick Stewart) and better music. Peggy Hill was in it and now I was expecting Hank, Dale, Bill and Bomhauer to show up but they never did.

So in general another undisappointing blind buy! For me that's rare you can already guess what the next movie I'm purchasing is.

I watched Mary Poppins yesterday.

At the theater we saw Little Miss Sunshine with Toni Collette, Steve Carrell, and Greg Kinnear. Very good movie, I would look for it to make some noise in this year's Oscar race.

In the Home Theater we watched Poseidon in Blu-Ray Hi-Def. I am so happy with this new toy. I am learning more about the special things it does every day. I can honestly say it is the first time I am reading the instruction book page-by-page, cover-to-cover.

Watched Meet the Fockers last night. A pretty good movie with a few funny moments but not as good as the first film.

Silent Hill



Absolutely fantastic. While it might be hyperbole to say I loved every second, I loved each and every one of those 120 minutes. I can see that the story was simplifed and altered a fair bit (which is fair enough, the computer games' backstory is freaking complicated). But people who say it doesn't make any sense, are you actually watching the film? It makes perfect sense.

And... Oh, I just cannot get over how everything looked exactly like I imagined it would, everything. Certain scenes were shot for shot from the games, puzzles had homages (remember when the Silent Hill games were about puzzles, not monster killing?) and, thanks to the soundtrack (mostly from Silent Hill 2, but also bits of 1 and 3) it was literally as if the computer game had come to life. Talk about Dark Nightmares, this film put mine up on screen. This film deserves a 11/10 for visuals and atmosphere. Could Midwich School look any more like Midwich School?

I'm not sure about the cult as presented in the film. It certainly does make things simpler, but... well, I'll always prefer the games' cult more myself. I also missed Dr Kaufman.

The ending in the church may have been a little "out there", but its visuals were certainly true to the game series. I also loved the final "twist" ending. Looks like a film based around Silent Hill 2 may happen after all...

However I do have a couple of minor complaints. The first is that nothing was done to explain the presense of the entity in the town preying on people's emotions before Alyssa was burnt; and still does (see Silent Hill 2) - But I like how they tied her burning to the town fire, something I've long suspected based on newspaper cuttings you find in the games - and I was upset that the significance of the Cone Headed Executioner was not shown/explained within the film. Without knowing the history, his role isn't so clear.

Well, looks like I'll be listening to my Silent Hill soundtracks for the next week.

So far this week I've watched:

Intolerable Cruelty- 2.7/10 I really hated this movie, so random and confusing, great cast though.
Disney's Hercules- 9.2/10 The first time I saw this movie was about 8 months ago and some friends and I laughed at stupid little jokes like 'Jerkules', however every single time I watch this movie it gets better and better, I start noticing things I didn't notice before, espiecially in the storyline (eg, Megara selling her soul for her lover) And every time I see this movie I seem to care less and less about the unusual character design of squiggly joints and curly nipples.
White Chicks- 9.5/10 Enough Said

I watched First Daughter with Katie Holmes last night. It was a cute movie. I enjoyed watching it.

Brother Bear - This movie was really good and I felt like it had more depth (as in a better plot) than the sequel. I mean the sequel was predictible while the original was like "whoa, that's amazing." I was a little skeptical about the music at first because of Phil Collins. I watched South Park way too much and it made me have a bad view on him. Now I can see that he's more talanted then what Matt Stone and Trey Parker portrayed him but I can't help but laugh.

It's "sequel" NOT "sequeal".............c'mon you know better than that.
