I'm sorry I missed this question! I've ordered Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp from DisneyShopping.com and if you preorder it, they usually ship it on the release date and you'll receive it a few days later. On the other hand, some people here have reported to have preordered at other websites like Amazon and they were lucky to receive it on the release date. I preordered Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers Vol. 1 on Amazon and I got it a few days after its release date, but I think that was due to the fact that it mailed to my university and then mailed to my campus post office.

I don't think I'm going to get Little Mermaid and Friends. I went to FYE yesterday and they still had TLM/TLMII 2 pack for only $7.99. I'd rather get the full soundtracks to both movies. But I didn't get it b/c I wanted to see what they added for the special edition sound track.
LucyLover1986 wrote:They did it too for Stitch! The Movie and maybe some others also.
I think they've done it for all the animated classics and some DTV sequels and movies up until the Disney switched hands with The Children's Place and they only did it for the Platinums, but you had to preorder it online. So far I have: A bug's life, Peter Pan, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, Aladdin, Cinderella, Lady and the Tramp, and The Little Mermaid.

i feel really strongly about this, and i know its been talked about alot...

but this was the only giftset i was going to buy...

out of the whole series of platinum edition sets!

the only one! and there not even making it!

as soon as the first october dvd had a giftset i said to myself

"wow! they look so awesome! i have to have the mermaid one!"

i just feel like i have been slapped in the face by disney!

and for what! loving there work? enjoying there films?

makes me so upset and angry at the same time!

they call this movie "Disney’s Most-Requested Animated Treasure"

and look what they do!

they give it a few measly litho's, a pin and 2 toys...

I'm not to fussed about not getting a box set, Im just excited that I'll finally be able to have one of my favourite movies of all time on DVD.
I'm really excited about the Movie and the DVD being released. Im a fan of the Movie, not of the Merchandise.
Besides, by the time October arrives, EVERYTHING will be about Ariel, I often hear people say everything in the Disney Princess franchise is about Cinderella and Jasmine, probably because they're the only Princesses with their DVD's out.
So maybe Disney will reconsider releasing this "Boxset". After all, its all about Merchandise to them, and making bucket-loads of money.
But like I said, I just can't wait to see this movie again :D

Oh, I getcha now, good point

I can't wait to see this DVD's special features, I hope they're as good as Aladdin's bonuses. I really want to hear Silence is Golden, and see the character design-development art for Ariel and Ursula.
It's on the BATB Platinum Edition where you see sneak peeks of the early development of Ursula, it was really interesting to see that they didn't even know what creature she was going to be!
I took some screencaps of early designs for Ursula, here they are:

Thats alright :) It took a while to upload them but it was worth giving people a taste of the DVD :P I think this DVD will be loaded with extra's! I can't wait to see the making of The Little Mermaid!
My favourite Ursula's (left to right) are the first one, the fourth one and the Ursula they ended up with.
I'm getting more and more EXCITED every second!!! :D Only 52 more days for Australians!

Those sketches are great. I think I like the way she turned out better than the other ideas though.

That's because she's a villain  lol. But I agree, she is a bit too freaky, just looking at that pic I could see little kids crying if that Ursula sang Poor Unfortunate Souls.
Plus I can't really see Pat Caroll's voice matching up with this Ursula.

I really love these two sketches. The characters seem very malevolent and sexy in the good way. Then again, we're talking about disney villains, so perhaps sexy isn't the best word for a villains to go by.

It's still kind of hard to imagine either of them taking over Ursula's role. I just have a feeling the movie would have been entirely different, had Ursula looked different. I'm glad they went with the purple half-octupus kinda look ;)

People! Can we please stop posting and re-posting the same images? The concept stuff is cool, but it can be kept to one post; makes the thread longer to load and harder to navigate otherwise. Thanks.

But...I'm going to school in exactly half an hour :x yay for me :P

Back onto The Little Mermaid DVD, is it possible for me to order a copy from Disneystore.com with the toys, lithos and slipcover, even though I'm in Australia? Will they ship to Aus?

don't know if it has been said before (41 pages!) but I'm not very satisfied with the cover art. mostly because we don't see that the girl is a mermaid. her fish tail is almost completely hidden with the title logo. her tail is her most significant and interesting feature and we can't see it. on the original poster, her tail was nicely displayed, although the whole thing looked a lot like a family portrait.
