I really hope that the film is gonna be in its original 2:35:1 Widescreen aspect ratio and not a butchered 1:33:1 version (read: let's lose 40% of the original image so to get rid of the so-called annoying black bars), as there's no "widescreen" banner so far, and we know that BVHE UK are losers.

*cough cough* notice non believers, 2 disc special edition, 2!

yey, made my day!
I agree with you though Wonderlicious, i don't really see the point in a special edition/platinum edition dvd, with all the added features and restoration, if the AR is wrong.
Lets hope its the OAR.

(I must say that the double feature cover looks quite awful....)
Actually, the original aspect ratio of
Lady and the Tramp is more like 2.55:1. Some "inside information" from Buena Vista in Sweden indicates that the DVD will have exactly that aspect ratio.
Lady and the Tramp was a very early Cinemascope film, and as such it must have been made in 2.55:1. (The format was later redefined as 2.35:1 to make room for an optical mono soundtrack for backward compatibility. Many theatre owners were reluctant to install the costly magnetic stereo sound equipment.)
Question is, though, will the UK-edition also include the original full frame version of the film? You see, Lady and the Tramp was actually made in two versions that were photographed separately in two different aspect ratios. An "Academy" (1.37:1) version was produced for theatres that hadn't yet been converted for cinemascope. But the film took so long to complete that, when it was finally released, most theatres had already been converted. So the Academy version didn't get much use.
So "full frame" may not necessary equal "butchered". The US DVD is supposed to include two versions, but it's not clear whether the full frame version will be the original Academy version, or a pan&scan job like the previous European DVD release.

Im hoping that double pack cover changes, its the biggest mess i have ever seen, the bottom bit isnt that bad but the top thing looks like its been done by a 5 year old, actually i think a 5 year old could do better.
Though i do think it will change as the new LATT2 cover hasnt emerged yet....im sure it will within the next few weeks and hopefully the double pack will also change.
The UK cover is fine, though look whos being covered up at the bottom.
I also hope its in its OAR, though these no widescreen logo it wouldnt surprise me if they just missed it off again, i have to agree with Joe they are such loosers......

OK Some of you may wish to consider that sometimes the covers that BVHE UK send to online retailers, have differences to those that eventually end up in stores.
That Lady and the Tramp cover is a. the old version, not the revised art, and b. doesn't have the ratings symbol.
So I wouldn't worry about a missing widescreen logo just yet.
Furthermore, have you actually counted how many widescreen DVDs are missing the widescreen logo? Just because the cover doesn't say widescreen, doesn't mean the DVD won't be!
The real issue here is how crappy that Lady toy is!
Normally the beanies look really good, but that looks like something made by Ty!
And finally, to all the non believers amongst you
Ha ha, told you 'twas a 2 Disc

Does anyone have a picture of the Lady beanie? I didn't know one was going to be given out with the DVD.

Will the lady toy be like what happened with the Bambi release? Or will it just be given free with the double pack?

Just checked on amazon, the Lady toy comes with the 2 disc special edition as well, not just the double pack. It doesn't look too bad, considering its free an' all.

I greatly beg to differ!
Just look at the quality of the free beanies from past DVD releases
Simba beanie came with the Lion King
Mickey beanie came free with The Three Musketeers
Thumper beanie came free with Bambi
Stitch beanie came with Lilo and Stitch
Pumaa beanie came with The Lion King 3
Gus beanie came free with Cinderella II
Patch beanie came free with 101 Dalmatians II
now look again at the ugly thing they're offering with LatT!
They could do better if they wanted to!
