Well since I still am in Deja Vú mode, I'll re-post the answer that I gave Escapay when he asked about the
two D U N E miniseries editions and 2099net mentioned his admiration for Lynchian art.

Escapay, I'd recommend the 3 disc Special edition cus not only it's 16:9 coded while the old one is just letterboxed it has a few more goodies, and apart that it is longer thant the old edition (and a novel like D U N E needs that) (Just see what happened to David Lynch's D U N E when it lost half of its length! :( ) it's also UNCUT. I don't remember what's different about the extras (I had the older 2 disc version first but a witch hid it where it can never be found, so i got the better 3 disc version now :D) but it's more. Also (new to this remastered post! :P) I think the movie is spread over more disc space so it might have slighly better quality (Apart from the 16:9 extra resolution)

Dune is kind of a Sci Fi soap so you might enjoy those aspects of it (the book is better still!)
So the story continues on Children of D U N E . I actually liked that better, maybe because Alia acts just like the witch! It encompasses books 2 and 3 of the series (D U N E Messiah and C o D)

2099net I also love Davidd Lynch!

I coulda sworn I posted in here yesterday night.

Anyhoo, I bought quite a few DVDs yesterday (and even received the Ju-On DVD as an early Christmas present... a movie I will probably never watch again).

GATTACA, The Princess Diaries 2 (as a present for a friend), Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water DVD Collection 1 (likewise, for a friend), and the Aladdin PE DVD.

All in all, very pleased with my purchases.

Is that the Best Buy exclusive?

Shame we can't get those. They won't ship outside the US.

Anyhoo, I can't be bothered re-typing all the DVDs I got last week (there were about half a dozen), I got the documentary American Nightmare last night. It looks at the horror films of the 1960s and 1970s, and compares them with the horror of the Vietnam war, and how the latter had an influence on those films. It is also a nice survey of the films of that era, looking at Wes Craven, John Carpenter, George Romero, John Landis and others (including Tom Savini). It is quite a good piece actually. I saw it at the Sydney Film Festival a few years back.

Fantasia, it seems like a bootleg. Doesn't have anything like "Disney DVD" or even "Walt Disney" logo, and no holographic stickers, so I'm a bit disappointed about it. This is the Korean version. I also got Fantasia 2000, it at least was the real thing. Oh, and Brother Bear also. :pink:

Ah, thanks deathie. It's usually $19.99 in regular stores, but I found the 3-disc for $14.99 at BestBuy, so I might get it there after Christmas.

Children of Dune is $11.99 at BestBuy, so I might get that as well. Also, I read it had Susan Sarandon, so that automatically qualifies as a good movie.

FINALLY got my copy of The White Stripes: Live Under Blackpool Lights . . . I saw it in theaters last Thursday, so I wasn't too too anxious, but hey, when you're at home, you can sing along and play air guitar, so I was quite excited . . . :D

For once?

The first 7 Star Trek movies were double-discers, and so was The Ten Commandments, Forrest Gump, and Once Upon A Time In The West.

Yeah, but for Paramount that's rare. I doubt it will happen, but I'm hoping for a Lemony Snicket 2-discer. Maybe if released under Dreamworks on DVD, it could happen! ;) :)

Anastasia today... Sadly, Circuit City didn't have The Lion King in stock. I'll have to pick that up at Target in a few days, I guess.

Christmas is really hurting my wallet. ):
