Bolt is moving into production, with finalers getting educated on the new tools (images of picks, shovels and rakes flicker in my head, but it's actually computer software I'm talking about.)

My morning jaunt through the hat building found me talking to the first floor crew. Finalers are still training on software for Bolt (aka American Dog).

At Disney Animation Studios Bolt is slowly accelerating into fuller production and the conjecture 'round and about is if more staff will be hired when the show hits warp speed, the better to make the release date.

It's only just recently started production? I thought its been that way for a while.

Does anyone know how long animated films are typically in production these days? if they have everything planned out thoroughly, I guess production could go very smoothly with just a few hitches here and there. I just always got the impression that many things get changed during production when it comes to story, characters and such along the way which can often take the studio 3 years to get through. that's how it used to be any way...

Well, it had been in preproduction.

Most of the time it takes to make an animated film is for preproduction. The actual animation may take a year, but it takes about 3 years (if you're lucky) for the whole process (including preproduction).

I'm really looking forward to this film, and I've been keeping updated to every bit of news regarding it since early 2006.

Any recent news regarding 'Bolt' in any way? It seems like ages since we heard anything new about it.

Join the club, buddy. I too am waiting *patiently* for some new developments, and truth be told, I'm getting sick and tired of this wild goose chase. I'd rather Disney just gave us official information and maybe a teaser (when the hell is that gonna be released!?), and quench our thirst.

Is it just me or this plot is smiliar to Madgascar,Flushed Away and Cars? the whole spoiled\animale who usued to live with humans who gets to a deserted place.
But anyway this movie sounds good unlike Flushed Away who was everything we saw before.

if you look at plots in the vaguest of terms, of course you'll find similar ones out there. hundreds in fact. is almost impossible to find a plot that hasn't been done before. its the execution that make you not care about it. if the movie is good that is.

Yeah,it's done before but it's actually sounds nice,unlike Flushed Away who was in my opinion boring and nothing original,i didn't care about the main character at all.

Yeah, but Lasseter has been the driving force behind most of the story changes. And Lasseter is supposed to be - like - a creative god or something. I mean, he can sit in a cafe and come up with - you know - eight prize winning movie ideas and write them down on the back of a napkin or something, because he's a got such a - oh my God - creative mind.

Except it appears he and his colleages don't. Bolt seems to be taking elements from Toy Story (delusion between a character's real and fictional personna), A Bug's Life (sort of ditto - confusion between heroic perceptions and reality, as well as gender confusion), Cars/Toy Story/Monsters, Inc. and any other Pixar "Buddy" movie (which involves friendships and things/people being lost) and of course 101 Dalmatians 2 - Patch's London Adventure (the whole TV/Film Star Dog thing).

It appears they have a few ideas that they constantly recycle. That's how they got so many films on napkins. Most points just said "see previous idea".

It was obvious in Finding Nemo, and now, quite frankly, it's just getting offensive.

And then people moan that Disney was uncreative in the mid-80's to the end of the 90's.

Bolt -- due for release at holiday time in '08 --has a lot of footage to polish to a high, digitized sheen, so I'm guessing it hires more people next year as well.

I don't know exactly what this means...I really don't. But, at least the movie is moving on in production!

I can't wait to see anything from this film...I wonder when the first teaser trailer will come out.

I'm guessing before "National Treasure 2", but that's probably me just hoping we get to see something before the New Year.

"Bolt" is the one I'm most looking forward to. I've been following it since late 2005, and I can't wait to see it.

Well, here's hoping it will be good. I lost some faith since Chris Sanders left the project, but I'm still hoping...

the film is a canine enchanted..plot and name akin to 101 dalmatians 2....poster a mishmash of incredibles and hercules...i dunno...this project seems...iffy...

truth be told im more excited about ballad of nessie and glago's quest.

Disney’s Bolt to receive 3-D treatment
Disney’s Bolt, previously known as American Dog, will be released in digital 3-D when it enters theaters November 26, 2008, says The Hollywood Reporter. Featuring the voices of John Travolta and Susie Essman, the film tells the tale of “a TV star dog named Bolt (Travolta) who is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood soundstage to New York, where he begins a cross-country journey through the real world.” In related news, it is worth reminding that a teaser poster for Bolt was released online last Thursday, November 22nd.
