Snow White certainly deserved to win. One Hundred Men and a Girl is a delightful film (I’m a big Deanna Durbin fan) but the Snow White score is superior and legendary.

Without having done a ton a research, I think people were still trying to define what Snow White was by awards season. I think that was the whole point of it's special Oscar. I think people recognized it was a tremendous achievement, but didn't know how to reward that.

I was watching Pinocchio on my computer (which I rarely do) and noticed a glitch on Pinocchio's sleeves starts around 36:30-40:00. Sometimes are white, sometimes are yellow or in between. I guess the original intention was to look white with the spotlight on, idk. Is this on the original film? Has anyone noticed before? Talking about the Lowry/Platinum restoration...

Hey,

You know, I never noticed it before, but you made me go back and look at it. And I think it IS on purpose, but not handled well:

If you look at the shot where Pinocchio gets hit with a spotlight, THAT is the moment where the shirt turns from yellow to white, intended to be a lighting effect. But in the subsequent shots, the shirt is at times yellow, at times white... at times they may have tried to do the top parts white, underside yellow... I suspect this was the intention, but the cel painters made mistakes on different shots.

That said, I am glad that the restoration didn't try to fix it, and left the movie as it was made in 1940.
