Well looks like Disney has refused a winner - Farenheit 911 was tops at the box office this week and has already made more money than it cost to produce.
Pretty impressive for a documentary. No idea if anybody knows the anser to this but when was the last time a documentary did that or has it ever been done?
I think a couple of things at work here. 1. Disney provided a lot of free publicity here. If Jeb or George Bush were in any way trying to block it behind the scenes it totally backfired.
2. Public sentiment about the war in Iraq and the war on terror really seem to be turning.

well, it seems quite obvious if you tell people not to see this movie, they're going to want to go and see it. Just like telling a child to not touch electronics...

Actually, Bill according to my paper you are right on only one of two counts.
It isn't the #1 Document of all time yet, in fact it wasn't even the best opening ever. It was the best non-Imax documentary opening ever though.
I am a big Moore fan and I think it is pretty impressive.

So, it seems Disney dropped the ball on yet another hit movie. Wonder if Eisner will be the next to be dropped...?

Now this is interesting. I've already pre-ordered mine (I saw it on Play.com at the end of last week) but further information on the UK Fahrenheit 9/11 DVD release is:
Michael Moore’s searing anti-Bush documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 has appeared for October the 25th, from (Miramax distributor) Buena Vista. No word on any special features as yet, but its RRP is £19.99.
So it appears Disney
will be distributing the DVD over here. I understand Sony has the US home video rights.
