'Movies' also means live action: Treasure Island, Old Yeller, Mary Poppins, North Avenue Irregulars, Candleshoe, The Black Hole, The Rocketeer, Max Keeble's Big Move, Inspector Gadget.... so many known, and not-so-well-known offerings by Disney.

Yes, I love Disney animation -- Cinderella, Peter Pan, Aladdin.... Yes, I have my favorites, but ple-e-e-e-e-ase realize many, if not all, of these rankings for Top 10 Disney movies in this topic are listing only one side of Walt's property.

Try going to a library or video store and check-out/rent some live action Disney movies some time. You won't like them all, but that's okay. Still, try expanding your Disney intake. Consult the UD reviews to help get you started on what sounds most intriquing to you.

We're all welcome to our opinions and favorites, but please consider the rest of Walt's supper table: live action movies. This skewing of animation titles happened on our 'Heroes and Heroines' countdown this year.

I know I am cheating on putting the shorts but they are really great. I still think "The Old Mill" is the greatest thing Disney ever put on film.

I would guess Hocus Pocus would count, considering it and TNBC are both Touchstone movies. It always cracked me up.

1-)The Lion King- it was obvious this was the top of my list. What can I say that hasn't been said before, powerful and emotional story, memorable songs and characters, and breathtaking animation. My all time favorite movie.
-the past can hurt, but the way I see it you either run from it, or learn from it.....

2-)Aladdin- how can anyone not like this? Great songs, Robin Williams, and its amazing moments of CGI. A Disney classic loved by many and truly one of the best.
- I can't believe it I'm losing to a rug.

3-)Beauty and the Beast- the tale as old as time is cosidered as the "pinnacle of the Disney at its best" and I don't blame it. A story that captured people's hearts, gorgeous animation, classic songs, and a stellar voice cast. Even if I'm a guy, I can't help liking this one.

4-)Lilo and Stitch- I liked this one. It was touching and nuts at the same time. Loved the Elvis songs.

5-)Tarzan- Great movie. Disney invested a lot in this movie and you can really tell. This is probably THE best animated film, there's nothing better to show off what 2-D animation is capable of with the help of the computer than Tarzan, probably my favorite since The Lion King. Did you remember Tarzan sliding on trees? And why do people hate Phil Collins on this one? I think he did a great job.
-Are you sure this water is sanitary? It looks questionable to me

6-)Bambi- this movie grew in me over time. The story is so simple, yet I see many aspects to it. The animation is my favorite of the old school bunch. And oh yea, one of the saddest moments in cinema history.

7-)The Little Mermaid- the one that started it all once again. This is one I used to watch as a kid in Colombia over and over, even if I didn't get it because it was an American tape. The songs are catchy, the whole longing to be human thing was touching, and let's not forget it had amazing animation. I haven't seen so many effects in an animated film, especially the under sea parts. This one is a winner.
-Teenagers, you give them an inch they'll swim all over you.

8-)Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs- Time IS the ultimate critic, and this is the perfect example. The first animated film has endured the test of time and it has entertained many and still will for generations to come.

9-)Pinocchio- a Disney masterpiece that shares the same status as Snow White. The animation was so full of detail and how can you not like the whole "wishing upon a star" deal?
-When you wish upon a star, makes no difference, who you are

10-)Fox and the Hound- probably the most underrated Disney classic. I used to watch this one all the time as a kid just like Mermaid. It has some really sad moments and the "we'll be best friends forever" conversation when they were kids... ...wow..

Sounds like you have some disrespect for animation. It does.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, Disney started with animated feature films, so even after all the live-action work they've accomplished, their legacy was made great first and foremost by the 'cartoons'. I feel live-action movies and computer generated movies should be included in at least 1 separate list. Which for me, is for another time.

Well, I just said that because I always remember seeing the Touchstone logo at the beginning of the movie.
