Am very happy about this, it looks like the UK will get 3 of my favourite 1990's movies on SE DVD by the end of the year (Pocahontas, Aladdin and Mulan).

i am so excited....mulan is definitely one of my favorite disney films

in my opinion..."I'll Make A Man Out Of You" is the best Disney song recorded...im so excited...October is gonna be great

Nope, Peter Pan was released as a SE rather shortly after the release of the Limited Issue DVD's. Alice has also been released twice on DVD, under the Gold Collection and now the Masterpiece Edition. It does make it different that Mulan has been OOP for a while and now they are re-releasing it.

I bet that we don't see a Dumbo rerelease anytime soon. Mainly because the aniversary issue is still available. If I was a gambling man I would put all my money down that we will not see Dumbo anytime soon. However I am very bad at gambling so I might loose all my money.

I swore I could hear my brain cells dying in torturous agony when I read that Mulan was actually coming to DVD as a Special Edition.

As much as I absolutely despise, loathe, and abhor this movie, I get the sick feeling in my gut this will end up in the family DVD collection because of the Jackie Chan music video. I have a sister who worships anything Jackie Chan, and she's probably the one who will bring this DVD home.

If you hate it that much, then you probably shouldn't see Mulan 2.

And is the new music video going to be by Raven (true to you heart)?

I'd rather see the originals done by Christina Augulera (however you spell her name) 98 degrees and Stevie Wonder.
Not a big fan of any of them, but they were made at the time of the original, and should be included.

Prince Adam - I think those videos will likely be included in this, as they were even included in the limited issue.

I wouldn't be surprised if 2004 sees one additional animated classic release, a la Sleeping Beauty... but with Mary Poppins coming out, I'm not sure. If one were to be released, I would say that it would be likely to be either Peter Pan, Dumbo, or Pinocchio.

Both "Pocahontas" and "Lilo" are announced on "Lion King 1 1/2" and "Brother Bear", so I still think they MAY be coming by the second semester. Not so sure about "Lilo & Stitch" (Disney may want to cross-promote it with the infamous sequel in 2005), but there is no reason to delay "Pocahontas" (well, there is... crowded schedule), specially when it is coming to UK this June.

Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan, Pinocchio and Fantasia Platium Editions will be re-relase around 2008 and beyond.

All were relase on DVD before so they probably will be relase 2 times a year in March and October.

Who knows?

Joe - Yeah, it will probably be those. I wasn't thinking of them b/c they are already in the "confirmed" category in my brain, I keep forgetting they aren't actually scheduled yet... probably because I'm not super excited about them, lol.

MMP - I'm not sure that we know that for sure yet. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we know that these won't be released prior to 2008.

Well they could come out on DVD or they might not come out on DVD.
I said who knows we don't know if it's true.

Bad new for those who were expecting to get the UK 2-disc "Pocahontas" this year. According to Amazon.co.uk, it has been postponed to January 7, 2005!

I agree with you but not getting Disney Princess Sing Along songs or Disney Pricess Strories A gift from the heart.

I was at the mall today and stopped by the video store. I noticed the new release reserve board was full of movies that were just in the theatres not 2 months ago. The dude told me that they are trying to pump them out even faster now as a marketing stratagy to make more money. The theory is that since they are newer they are still fresh in your mind and you will be more interested in seeing them. We will see. Home on the Range might not be too far off.

I've noticed this new apparent strategy, too. It actually seems like it's been a trend for more than a decade now. I remember when it took FOREVER for movies to get out on VHS, and then they sped up just a little, and then DVDs came out, and it sped up a lot, and now some films have almost instant releases. But I'm not complaining.

However, I think this backfire. If I know that I can wait just a month or two and rent/buy it on DVD, then chances are I'll save myself the double expenditure, unless it's a movie I REALLY want to see. I imagine it will be the same with most people, especially those who aren't as movie-crazy as me.
