New title/release date!:

http://www.moviehole.net/201034366-new- ... ppet-movie

"The new Muppet movie, written by Nick Stoller and Jason Segel (who also stars), has been slapped with a new title : “The Muppets Movie”.

It works… because it says ‘hey! I’m the official sequel to the Muppet Movie – the original one, the good one’. I think so, anyway.

In addition to giving it a title (it was at one stage going to be called “The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made”) the film, which also stars Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones and Zach Galifianakis, has been moved from a Christmas 2011 release to a Thanksgiving 2011 date.

“Disney has had incredible success opening films over the Thanksgiving weekend, and thanks to Tangled, we have the top three Thanksgiving openers of all time,” said Chuck Viane, president of global distribution for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. “I have spoken with The Muppets, and we all agreed this comedy is a great fit for the holiday 2011 time frame.”

The new film has The Muppets regrouping to save their legendary theatre from an evil oil tycoon.

There was talk that Paul Rudd might be voicing the character of ‘Walter’, the hand puppet who Segel’s character kicks about with, but the actor responded to the claims this week saying that no, he won’t be involved. That’s disappointing."

Definitely a better release date than before, as it was going to compete with Tintin and *ugh* Alvin and the Chipmunks 3. So, this slot will help finds its audience.

Segel talked about finally getting the opportunity to make the movie and what the Muppets mean to him, Adams talked about how Kermit and Segel sent her a DVD asking her to be in the film, and I asked them both what is their go to karaoke song.

That poster shows exactly what is wrong with the movie industry these days. Look at the posters for The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper, for example. Because those were magnificently painted by Drew Struzan, it looked as if the Muppets came to life, which was exactly what Jim Henson wanted. Not this generic crap. The other poster will probably be worse.

I saw the trailer yesterday for the first time while waiting for PatC4 to begin. The trailer is cleverly made. ^_^ I look forward to seeing the movie in November.

I saw the trailer too. And I must admit it was very clever. I kind of figured it was Muppets since Amy Adams was in it, but they way they played it kind of had me duped. Way to go Disney and Henson! Clever advertising on your part.
