I feel like they can and will take the characters in different directions visually...which is why I think Nicole Kidman might work. I also just really like Nicole Kidman...
Oh, Rachel Weisz would be an awesome idea! She's so beautifulJeanGreyForever wrote:My vote is for this as well. I also would love an actress like Rachel Weisz since I loved her as a villainess in Oz the Great and Powerful (and pseudo villainess in My Cousin Rachel). Janet Montgomery is lesser known but she's become one of my favorite actresses after her role in Salem as Mary Sibley where she plays a witch who turns to darkness but ultimately finds the light again at the end to be redeemed. She has the look and the gravitas to play this role imo and she would look amazing in all the different costumes.Sicoe Vlad wrote:Another great possibility for the Queen would be Eva Green. I think she would be a fantastic Queen. She's super beautiful, and a very talented actress.
Nicole Kidman is a great actress but looks nothing like the animated version whose design is impeccable and should not be altered imo. Meryl Streep is far too old but she could play the witch version. I'd prefer the same actress play both incarnations of the character. Would be interesting if they brought back Susan Sarandon since she essentially played this character in Enchanted, although she's also a bit too old for my taste for this role.
I would love if Julie Andrews narrated the live action Snow White !Sicoe Vlad wrote:Oh, Rachel Weisz would be an awesome idea! She's so beautifulJeanGreyForever wrote: My vote is for this as well. Plus her British accent is so sexy.
I was also thinking of Susan Sarandon. She's one of the best. I loved her performance in Feud: Bette & Joan. She could be great in Snow White as well. Plus, yes, her performance in Enchanted could be very similar in Snow White. But the problem is Snow White herself. I can't think of anyone who could play her.
Wouldn't it be great if the filmmakers did the same as they did in Jungle Book, and bring back the original book from the opening scene, and have Julie Andrews (as in Enchanted) be the narrator?
Oh, yes, I love Weisz. She would be great, although she wouldn't necessarily be my first pick for this.Sicoe Vlad wrote: My vote is for this as well. Speaking of Feud, Jessica Lange has played several roles that are strikingly similar to the Queen's character, such as in Feud as well as in most seasons of American Horror Story. She's also probably too old for the role now but she'd be another great choice. After all, Joan Crawford was one of the initial inspirations for the Queen so it would be fitting if an actress who depicted Crawford would play the Queen as well. Certainly a better choice than Faye Dunaway.Sicoe Vlad wrote: Oh, Rachel Weisz would be an awesome idea! She's so beautifuland she was great in Oz The Great & Powerful. I imagine the Queen will have multiple outfits so I'm sure we'll see her hair in one or a few of them but her iconic look should definitely be retained.Disney Duster wrote:Disney's animated evil queen was beautiful. So much, she felt she didn't have to show her hair to be beautiful. Like Maleficent. But I imagine they will show her hair, as part of doing a new take visually.
What does Jessica Lange have to do with Faye Dunoway?
I would have nothing against Faye Dunaway playing the Queen. I think she could be good in the role.JeanGreyForever wrote:Speaking of Feud, Jessica Lange has played several roles that are strikingly similar to the Queen's character, such as in Feud as well as in most seasons of American Horror Story. For Snow White, I think an unknown actress would be a good choice. Certainly something more inspired than Kristen Stewart being cast.
One of the best parts of the live-action Jungle Book was them bringing the book back. I'd love to see the book return in Snow White. Julie Andrews is a great choice for narrator and it would be another throwback to Enchanted. It's too bad Adriana Caselotti is no longer with us, otherwise I'd have loved for her to be the narrator perhaps in her distinctive voice.
I'd prefer something like how the live-action Maleficent design still evokes the image of the animated version, even if the animated design is far superior. I hope the Queen's design is not as plain though and uses lots of rich fabrics and patterns.Disney Duster wrote:Well, for me, I think they should give her a look that evokes both the iconic one and something new, like Cinderella's ball look.
Oh, thanks for the Joan Crawford explanation.
If she plays the Queen less over-the-topic than how she portrayed Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest, I wouldn't mind her then. That performance is iconic though for all the wrong reasons.DisneyFan97 wrote: I would have nothing against Faye Dunaway playing the Queen. I think she could be good in the role.
An older queen might be interesting.
I'd like a young actress but knowing Disney, they'll probably age her up a little which is why I'd want her to be in her early 20s at the oldest. I really liked Mckenna Grace's performance in The Bad Seed remake though and she has the overall coloring of Snow White. Kiernan Shipka has always reminded me of an older Mckenna Grace so she'd be an option too if they want to cast someone a bit older.Old Fish Tale wrote:Am I the only person who wants someone very young for this role? Snow White was 14 in the animated film. Marc Webber worked with Mckenna Grace in his last film. I think she'd be great.
I would've never in a million years thought of that, but she would be so good!Sicoe Vlad wrote:I was talking to a friend about potential casting choices for Snow White herself, and she suggested Gal Gadot. I think she would be amazing!
I love Gal Gadot, and they'll probably age up Snow a bit for this movie like mentioned, but still: isn't Gadot way too old for this role? She's 34. (I'm not trying to 'age shame' or anything, and like I said I think Gal Gadot is amazing)Disney's Divinity wrote:I would've never in a million years thought of that, but she would be so good!Sicoe Vlad wrote:I was talking to a friend about potential casting choices for Snow White herself, and she suggested Gal Gadot. She would be perfect.
